tools for helping with snap/spin?

What's on your mind?

by Judd » Sun Dec 28, 2008 1:59 pm

DD is 12. Shes been out of pitching for a few months but she never had good spin on the ball to start with. Her new instructor is really going back to basics with her and spin is an area she wants her to strengthen. She is encouraging her to just play with the ball while watching TV etc and practice spinning it.

We used to have one of those green spinners but I lost it (lost the whole bucket)

I am ordering some weighted balls to replace those that got lost. Wondering if I should get another spinner or any other items to help with spin?

Tight Spin Trainer is the best $40 you could ever spend for increasing ball spin. Ernie Parker, Team USA and many other elite pitching coaches reccomend it.

A) Her instructor is correct. Spinning a ball during idle time is the cheapest worthwhile practice to increase spin on the ball.
B) People get paid to endorse products....Oprah will endorse Nutri System if paid enough...
C) Cancel the order for the weighted balls...unless your DD ordered them on her own.

Just a few tips from a old school bucket dad. Right after 12's Ernie hads my dd to do these 3 things

1. While she was watching t.v. at night she bawl up the newspaper using only 1 hand at a time.
2. he gave her a set of weighted (chine balls) to roll in a circular motion in her pitching hand.
3. distance. pitching
I know alot of people don't like distance pitching, but once you are strong enough to move back into the outfield you really have to use your fingers, wrist, and forearms. Pitchers who usually train in these 3 areas master the different pitch spins very quickly.

ps. Sam give the nice guy some good sound advice. :D
