Firecrackers coming to San Diego in January 2014 !!!

by exD1dad » Sun Oct 13, 2013 11:06 pm

Hey 619 I suggest you get an editor before any post you write, otherwise you will constantly infuriate hard working, dedicated & educated members of this forum. I'm not a grammar/syntax/punctuation Nazi nor am I a historian of SoCal softball...but "professional" ? come on :o As someone who has stuck their foot in their month far too many times you should trust me.

Many are glad of your happiness of being part of an organization like the FC, but IMHO there is no grey area with FC, people Love them or Hate them & they are all allowed their opinions.

Nothing like starting out with a target on your back

As long as you don't mind working the snack bar so he can take his family on trips to Michigan or being forced to pay extra for that "great instruction on a daily basis" on top of your dues then go ahead and play for him.
That's probably why he is back in 12u. He needed a new crop of gullible parents that don't know his history

Hmmmmm.......San Diego is getting feelings hurt over OC teams coming to San Diego? Come on guys and gals, what does San Diego offer to keep all these girls here? Why or why do we continue to loose all are talent to OC teams.
Here comes the reality check.........

OC teams have more exposure and provide better opportunities.

I didn't see SD on national TV this past year. I saw Athletics and FC on TV the past 2 years. SD does not network well at all. Parents all we care about is the prize at the end of the road, 4 year all expense paid trip to school of your choice. Stop worrying about you silly ASA titles, PGF titles and accomplishments. Worry about getting girls exposed. OC teams do this very well, parents like this. To go to an organizational work out and see 20 D1 schools in the stands, go to hitting lessons and see college coaches sitting in the stands looking at kids hit. TO talk to multiple D1 coaches and gather information on what they are looking for and what girls need to do to improve. You do not get this in DIEGO.
Until San Diego brings in an organization that simulates what OC is doing, which is already happening, SD will be overrun by OC TEAMS. Sad, last few years top 3 pitchers in SO Cal in 18-16-14 U have all been from SD playing in OC. Lets wake up and get a clue. You cannot fault parents looking out for there daughters future. There is no price tag on this, parents will pay the big bucks. :P

Lets not be haters. FC has provided allot of quality coaching for my daughter. Tony Rico has great clinics for all ages. Yes my daughter plays for FC -14's and we live in SD. The coaching is quality, the dues are the same or less, we played in SD. It comes down to coaching, wether your in SD or the OC. You're clearly hating on the larger organizations out pure ignorance!!!!

First, it is amazing that you of all people are campaigning against "haters."

Second, "Pure Ignorance?" Maybe, but on the topic of pure ignorance I have to ask," What is an allot?"

I concur with Luther on Blanco, besides being an excellent coach his 18G team had the best website of any TB team I've ever seen. Wait, I'm sorry it's supposed to be about the game...OK look where all those girls either went or are going...Big time programs. I think Spazz said it best earlier this year..."if you don't want to pay the money, go play somewhere else". I also know of a well respected SoCal A's team whose coach refuses to speak, return emails or phone messages of parents (not the teenage players mind you) & they throw friendlies where mom & dad work 12+ hours so bitching about snack bars is stupid.

Plain & simple.... most coaches are or started out as daddyball teams...so what that is simply the nature of the sport (aside from former players now teaching the sport they love & excelled at) the fact that money or ethics enters into opinions that are then tossed about (true or not) is hilarious in my opinion. So tell us more gossip I'm currently working on Docktorate from the University of TMZ

Does the Firecracker org do any research on the teams/organizations that are allowed to use the Firecracker name? I would think they would only want the top coaches and players to put the Firecracker name on. Obviously no research done on SD merger.

What I want to know that I'm surprised hasn't been asked is who is going to be coaching and running the FC teams down here?

I have no idea, but I'll bet it's one or more of the SD coaches that was mentioned before from an already established org.

You can obviously rule out Power Surge, but it's likely that negotiations have begun and that it will be one of the others.

I hate that some of the best SD talent goes north, but admittedly we finally broke down and moved our DD north this fall. We'd stack up our SD coach against any other coach anywhere and it absolutely crushed us to leave.

But with the talent that's left after the defections north being spread out so thin between the orgs that are left, even the best SD teams just can't seem to consistently compete anymore, let alone thrive.

If you can't compete then your team plays on bad fields, usually against like competition and in front of very few coaches.

My suggestion is that a few of these great SD coaches and org leaders swallow their pride and figure out a way to work together to form their own super org/orgs. Let's get the best SD players to stay home and show our friends from the north that not only can we compete, but we can win.

Can you imagine what a travel team with Gourley and Nasland (just for starters) could have done these past few years?

SAN DIEGO TRAVEL ORG LEADERS/COACHES WAKE UP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

Playing in San Diego certainly hurt Rachel Nasland (ND), Sara White (ND), the Jordan sisters (SDSU, UCLA), the Shifflet sisters (MIT), the Lee sisters (Cal), Alix Johnson (ASU), the Fox sisters (UA, UA via UCLA), Hannah Flippen (Utah), Amanda Hansen (Long Beach), etc. My apologies for all those Ididnt mention because the list of players representing San Diego who played in San Diego and have been, will be and are currently playing at colleges and universities across the country from MIT and the Ivy League to NAIA to WCWS powerhouses is long.

People play where they find the best fit. Families travel for different reasons. The issue here was the OP showing a tremendous lack of knowledge about the sport in San Diego, and worse, showing no respect to those who are likely far better coaches.

As for hating on Rico's FC being based on ignorance, that is an ignorant statement in its own right. Its the arrogance of coaches like this newly minted FC disciple, and the lack of integrity of FC coaches who preach "Live with Honor" to kids but dont have a clue about honor in their own lives. While we all know of coaches who lack integrity, it reflects on Tony when he brings in coaches who have no honor. If you dont want to be included in the FC Coaches Hall of Shame, you should start by doubling back on this post and apologizing.

In Tony's defense, he does tell his coaches not to make asinine posts in forums like this one did.

Rule #1 don't always believe what's on the internet. Just because some yahoo builds a web site and claims to get all these kids a college deal does not make it true. I know for a fact there are kids on that site that he had nothing to do with. Another cup do juice for u......drink up
