DD(11) got a 32/22 Techzilla which she swung in the cage last night. She wiffed on 25 straight pitches until I couldn't take it anymore and mumbled "choke up" which she then proceeded to "touch" the last 5. :?

DD got Ben Hogan's "Five Lessons; The Modern Fundamentals of Golf" and Patrick Cohn's "The Mental Game of Golf". No softball gear, that part of the garage is already full.

living in the northeast, our spring/fall tournaments get fairly cold. especially morning games like 40's. I just don't want to break bats simply because i can't afford to keep replacing them.

I went big this Christmas and got my DD some new facemask brackets to replace the el cheapo plastic Rip It brackets that broke off during the last tournament.

The DD's get so much softball gear before during and after a season that they don't get anything softball related for Christmas. I got one of those stopwatch/pitch counter/ pitchspeed dohickeys. We went to DD's pitching coach last week and I compared my pitchspeed counter with his Juggs radar gun readings to get an idea of how to measure it accurately.

I think I figured out where this "my DD was clocked at _ MPH" comes from, even a Juggs gun will occasionally give you an incorrect reading. My DD had one that was 12 MPH faster than everything else she threw and there was simply no way the ball was moving that fast. The timing was perfect though, her older sister had just come over to check it out having just pitched herself so I showed the reading to her and said, "see, your little sister is already pitching faster than you".
