when is it time to call off the dogs?
A few years back ... in a Fall Rec League ... we were beating a team badly by the 2nd or 3rd inning ... so, as I mentioned in a previous post I would turn the gals around and have them bat lefty ... they batted around ... again, sometimes the best intentions go awry ...

If someone was running it up on my team, I'd be too preoccupied with addressing the fact that we suck to care what the opponent was doing.

I agree. I try to only worry about the things I can control, which is not running up the score on someone else team. Not out of sympathy, or anything other than, thats not how you play the game. Mybe other people do, but thats not how I manage a game.

Agreed on both counts here......The coach should spend his time worrying about making his/her team good enough to where they aren't in the position of being drilled like that.......Then there is no issue......If you are on the GOOD side of it, I wouldn't call off the dogs but I wouldn't coach very aggressively, base stealing etc.....That's it!
