Circle City Summer showcase

by bucketboy » Tue Jan 06, 2009 1:48 pm

As with anything there is always an exception to every thing that goes on in our little softball world.

I appreciate what coolstuff mentioned the one young lady that got an offer by attending a camp. What kind of offer did she get 20 percent, full? It really doesn't matter, but John is right the big time blue chip California studs are verballed by the end of their sophomore years.

Get your daughters seen early, have them send emails to coaches and let them know they are interested in their school no matter what level or division and let them know where you are playing. Have your daughters send the emails don't do it for them as these coaches are smart enough to know when Mom or Dad has done it for the kid and in most cases it is a turn off to the college coach.

If a coach gets enough emails from quality kids that they are going to be playing in the Circle City Summer Showcase chances are they may take the time to attend or at least send an assistant coach if they are going to be in Colorado that weekend.

I hope that the quality teams that are not going to Colorado will play in this event and that way it allows parents to stay close to home, save a few bucks and maybe get a kids education paid for fully or partially.

I don't know the details and I'm certainly not saying that it's the way to do it or that other methods are unnecessary. I think the point we all need to take from this is that you have to cover all the bases.

I'm taking DD to Purdue's camp this weekend. They are offering a session on recruiting and parents are invited. I'll share what I learn there.

Studs in any sport verbal by the end of their sophomore year. But not all athletes are studs, are they? :D

Coolstuff

How was the Purdue clinic?

Any good recruiting advice you can share with the group?

Congrats to Miss Fuller, obviously a talented player. Just wondering, how many Shockwave teams are there in each age group? Talented organization, seemed like there were a couple teams at 18u last year. I know a number of posts have commented on the talent at 16u.

There are two Shockwaves team - Troy's (93) and one 18u (Red). There are several others, but are average at best. They might have one 14u that is pretty good, just going on the talent of a couple of players.

Congrats to Ms. Fuller...she must have had one hell of workout. Full ride....

Last time I emailed they had about 20 teams so far. With most from Illinois and Ohio right now.
