Who are the top 10U teams for 2013-2014

by Softballdadx3 » Tue Jun 10, 2014 9:44 am

Well TheBallisYellow obviously you do not know everything about this tournament. It was by invite only 20 plus teams on the waiting list. For you to say the top teams were not down there why not take a look at previous big tournaments down south and see who is winning and coming in second in those a lot of these teams look at Fall World Series, Turf Wars, Carrolton Classic....top teams from those tourneys with exception of Texas Impact Gold were at Border Wars. For the 03 gators to go down south play 6 games all back to back and only give up 1 run to those teams pretty much sums it up they are a good team.
Now when it comes to why they are playing B I do not know or care at 10u does it really matter. Asa is not big in Indiana obviously 1 team signed up for tournament this weekend in 10's and 4 in 12u so don't say it's top notch in Indiana. USFA is growing more and more and top teams are playing it. Having played in there World Series several times now several Big name teams play B there why i do not know or care. But for you to hate on the 03's is down right ridicules. How about a simple good job or just keep your mouth shut.
If you consider it bragging well I would brag also if my daughters team went down there played 6 games gave up 1 run and won it. Beast30 great job for your team and coaches way to represent Indiana Softball. Good luck this weekend.
TheBallisYellow wrote:As I look into this border wars tournament I see it is a standard USFA tournament that anyone can enter their team in. Not an invitational tournament as beast30 mentioned. Does however look like a good tournament with some great teams. But to call it the toughest tournament in the south I think your going out on a limb. There were only 17 teams? I know some of the teams there are very good teams. I also know there are a lot of very good teams in the south that were not there in this tournament. LA, FL, AR, TX, SC, NC..... To many teams to list so just some examples of states not attending.

I agree with the previous statement. Seems like you just like to get on here and gloat about a 10u team who I'm sure is good but are just kids. Kids who 2-3 years from now might not even have an intrest for softball. And obviously seems like there are more people on here that poke at you than really care how good you are.

I looked up your team. It seems like your all about the glammer so why do you basically just play USFA?. If your gonna travel why not play some ASA tournaments that really do pull the top teams and not just from the south but the country. Like the ASA nationals I dont see you signed up for. I see your just registered as a "B" team in USFA so I may be wrong but gonna asume you are playing in the B nationals only because you want to try and win so you can gloat more instead of Playing in the A division and playing to be the best instead of playing for your ego. You may just be a parent and its your coaches decision if so dont mean it to be personal but maybe you should ask your coaches to put together a better schedule next year......

So this internet thing is working!

Gold Elite I don't mind talking to myself at all, do it all of the time at home since I am married with a wife and two kids it just seems natural at this point. I really appreciate your insight on this forum, you clearly add a lot to the discussion and it is impressive that with those internet troll hands (two fingers and a thumb) you can get all of that higher math accomplished...all the way to 27, that must have taken you a while. Give it a break, take a deep breath and instead of being a hater...try posting some good positive material on here once in a while.

The Ball is Yellow...great name, but if you are going to pretend to be someone that doesn't know our team you will have to try a little harder than that, it reeks of jealousy. Here are the inaccuracies of your post that haven't already been mentioned by others:
"But to call it the toughest tournament in the south". I didn't call it that, I said "One of the toughest tournaments in the south, due to the format and competition." Not toughest as you stated but one of the toughest, I stand by that statement, look up the USFA Fall World Series, look up the Carrollton Classic, look up the Alabama State tourney from last weekend and you will be hard pressed to find teams that did well in those tournaments that weren't at Border Wars.
You also mention "NC", North Carolina as a state that we didn't play any teams from, again this is an inaccurate statement. We beat a team from "NC" called the Green Machine 1-0 in the Championship game.
As you mention, there are a lot of people on here that "poke" at me, honestly I could care less. I believe and perhaps I am wrong that there are a lot of people reading these posts that are honestly interested in how the younger age groups are doing in Indiana. Am I bragging? In hindsight, perhaps I am a bit but not about myself I am a 40 something dad that had his heyday and is quite comfortable letting my kid have hers. I honestly couldn't be more proud of every kid on this team, they get it...it's not so much about the wins and losses it's about the growth of these girls and the way they have improved as a team over the course of a season.
You looked up our team and we are all about "glammer", it's glamour by the way but I digress. They are 10 yr old little girls...do they love having a music box? YES Do they like having a banner with their pictures on it? YES Do they like having their own website? YEP. www.gators03.com. We are absolutely "OVER THE TOP!" heck we broadcast the games on livestream, have a made up sports network and fake advertisements! And you know what? The parents love it, the kids love it and it doesn't do anyone any harm at all. There are no beatings for strikeouts, no one sits with their face in a corner for an error and if we lose there are no burpees or lashes with a whip. In all honesty we have the tightest group of girls and parents of any team I have been around, and everyone has FUN doing it.
So let's talk about our schedule, we have played 44 games against teams from outside the state of Indiana and 14 games against 12U competition, that is close to half of our games. Please take the time to look at the teams we have played on our website, due your research and compare our schedule and record against any 10U Indiana team. You mention ASA tourneys, we have played a few, quite honestly at the 10U level most of the toughest tourneys before Nationals in Indiana and the South are USFA. As a team this season we have played ASA, USSSA, NSA and USFA and I believe we have won tournaments in each of those associations.

Why are we playing B ball in PCB? It's quite simple, we don't have the horses to compete in A's on a consistent basis. We are a good team, great for Indiana but those teams down south have players driving in from 4 hours away for practice (true story), and we can play with them one game at a time but can't survive a weeks worth of that. There will be 60-80 teams in the B division down there, some great competition and a lot of fun.

This forum is called "Who are the top 10U teams for 2013-2014"' I didn't start it, but you are correct in that I have tried to keep everyone up to speed on what is going on with our team and some of the other top teams in the state on here, if it comes across as arrogant or gloating that isn't how it was intended. I honestly enjoy reading the 12U thread and keeping track of how those teams are doing, thought perhaps there was an interest here as well.

Oh by the way since I am here....10U USFA State Champions Indiana Gators 03!

Beast30, so you've won all these tournaments, including one of the toughest in the south, and in the same post you're patting yourself on the back for winning the USFA 10B State? Furthermore you have won all these tournaments, yet you can't compete with "A" teams consistently? Am I the only one seeing the irony here? Enjoy your trophies.

Agree with Slapper. Just say you have a very good team and we are playing B national to win a trophy so we can talk about ourselves. Go play ASA/USA or USFA A and challenge your girls. It will only make them better in the future and that is what you should be looking for as coaches/parents.

From your very own website:

"Never mistake activity for achievement"

Kinda hits home here, lol

Unless achievement is recognized by trophies in lieu of improvement.

Nice website, by the way...

Reading this thread puts a smile on my face because it brings back so many fond memories from years gone by! Nine years ago myself and a few of my buddies from the men's fast pitch softball world had daughter's who ranged between 8 and ten years old and showed an interest in getting into travel ball. We knew the game but knew little or nothing about the world of girl's travel ball (ASA vs. NSA,USSSA, Class A vs. B, etc..) but we started a team anyways and learned by trial and error. We were fortunate enough to find a great group of kids and equally great group of parents that loved playing or watching the game and more importantly loved spending time with each other. We registered as a NSA "B" team primarily because there were only a small handful of "A" teams in the state (under any associations banner) and to us the most important thing was making sure that we could find a tourney to play in each weekend that wasn't going to be cancelled because of lack of teams signed up. We ended up playing tournaments in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Tennessee that year culminating in our team winning the Indiana ASA "A" state tournament followed by the NSA "B" World Series Championship in Chattanooga. To this day, if you ask my daughter's and probably most all the rest of those kid's and parents involved with that team--they will tell you that year was the most fun they ever had playing the game.

Sorry about the rant but my point is this---don't lose sight of the most important thing, you are making memories and forming bonds that will last a lifetime! You are teaching your kids valuable life lessons--it doesn't matter A or B, ASA or USFA, there will be plenty of time to figure all that stuff out down the line. There is not a set formula that any team has to abide by--just make sure that the girl's are developing a love of the game, a hunger for competition and how to be good team players. Beast, we heard the same stuff from people 9 years ago about playing as a B team--sand bagging, trophy hunting, not developing the girl's to compete against the best, etc/etc. (the biggest difference is we generally stayed away from singing our own praises on social media) but if what you are doing is working for your group stay the course. My guess is your team or players will make the jump to playing "A" ball for Nationals in the very near future--it's the natural progression of things but at 10U--who cares have fun!

Hey my DD won the California ASA "B" state championship in CA. We had 14 girls on our team. At last count three are playing competitive softball. Moral of the story can go two ways: 1) have fun as you are and don't pile lofty expectations on your DD's 2) realize of your 10 girls maybe one or two will continue forward.

I'm all for having fun at 10, I can confirm the parents and DD's do have fun. My DD and I talk about those fun times all the time and when times get tough or not fun I remind her it's the same game. So who cares at this point!

Nice response. At 10U it is about fun and development. If the 03 Gator players and parents are having fun, good for them. Their development will be evident as they get older and their skills are tested against stronger and faster compeition. If the coaches and parents have done well, they will compete fine at the next levels (time will tell).

This forum is who is the best 10U in Indiana. In the grand scheme of things does it maetter, of course not. But it is fun to read about what everyone is doing and who is winning what.

As it relates to this forum, I do not think that anyone in the state of Indiana has beat the 03 Gators. They have also not avoided anyone that I have heard. Therefore, they are the best, right? Like them or not they are the best. They would be the best if they were registered as A, B or Rec. At 10U, really, who cares? The number of college scouts watching 10UA or 10UB is the same no matter what; ZERO. The team drives all over this side of the Mississippi, plays a ton of tournaments and continues to win. Good for them. They are representing the State of Indiana after all which should make us all proud.

With all due respect to the Beast I don't think he has ever been pounding his chest saying we are the greatest of all time or putting anyone else down. He is just really proud of his team. Based on their performance, he should be. However I am happy he did post because the recent chatter has made it fun to check Heybucket again.

On a different note...

Gold Elite, what is up man? Why are you such a hater about EVERYTHING? Do the world of Heybucket a big favor and ONE TIME, post something without insult or obvious sarcasm. It just might feel good.

Kid, I'm glad to hear that my sarcasm is obvious. That is intentional. I don't get on here to hurt anyone's feelings...but taking a jab at their ego, now that's a totally different story. It's all in good fun. And I definitely appreciate the fact that you went through and read ALL of my posts. But I must say, you must have missed a few. I have had positive things to say. At the same time I will call out the BS when I see it.

Admittedly, I read your recent posts with a smile on my face. I can definitely appreciate the stories you shared.

So, let me finish with something positive:

Ummm...errr...ugh....nope, I just can't find anything positive about this topic. Now, if we were talking best 12u, I could really get into that!

However, since I'm here, best 10u squads:
Gators '03
Crush '03
Followed closely by Gators '00 and Brats '03
