That still shouldn't have cost us the game, many other factors, but it is much easier to blame it on a blue, than to say we made bad coaching decisions or we were simply outplayed that day...

Ill play,

We are in glorious Lake Tahoe. This is real quick, then the better story. This was 9 years ago in 12u. Runner at third, batter walks and as she is half way to 1st blue from home plate says time and walks out in front of home. Batter/R1 continues on to 2nd base after getting her walk never pausing at 1st. he makes her go back to first. After I ask him what he is calling time for when the runner hasnt even reached first base yet, he replies, " Because i wanted to!"

Here is the good one. bases loaded, infield in. Ball hit to third base, she bobbles the ball, knowing she has no play at home, she flips to ss covering third, Ball CLEARLY beats the runner to third, field blue calls safe. I call time, walk out and ASK HIM WHAT HE SAW that made him call the runner safe. he says that the runner beat the ball, as simple as that. I dont even argue or ask for any help, as this is judgment and it is useless. I turn and start walking back to the dugout, get about three steps and say to him, "your wrong, but ok." I sit down on my bucket. Now remember we are in Tahoe with the best umpires in the nation. The home blue on his own calls time and walks out to his partner. After a brief discussion home blue is walking back to the plate, I chirp out to him "You know she was out, and you know why I am upset." HB walks over to me and quietly says that he told his partner that the runner at third was clearly out but his partner said that the SS did not have her foot on 3rd base when she caught the ball!

WHAT!, NOW WE HAVE OURSELVES A PARTY FRIENDS!

I ask HB if I can have time to discuss this with the FU as that is not what he told me originally. After explaining what he said to me, and after what he said to his partner, I ask the guy, "So now you are telling me she didnt have her foot on the base? So what you are basically saying is that you do not want to change your original call, so now you are going to completely change your original reasoning for your safe call?"

And he says yes, she is safe.

It got a little better after that, but no need to go into that.

Now, that's hilarious!

Plate umpire is just as stupid as the base umpire. Thank God, you had the best.

Everyone blows a call, hell I've even almost blown a call.. some times rules get goofed up, or you get turned aroud... brain farts.. and we're just people.

I have 0 tolerance for umpires as described above. There is no excuse for that.
