Top North Texas teams to watch in '08

by Brooke's Dad » Sun Feb 03, 2008 10:23 am

The 14U Texas Peppers (Hoskins) (12U last year) played "up" all of last year with the following exceptions:

- ASA Hall of Fame Qualifer in Midland (3rd Place)

- Ronald McDonald in Spring (1st Place)

- ASA Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City (2nd Place)

- ASA National Championship in Roseville (tied 12th Place)

This Fall they played in the Ronald McDonald 14U and took 2nd.

Almost every other tournament last year they played "up" and they took either 1st or 2nd in every each of them.

This Fall they have played "up" in the 16U Division and have taken 1st or 2nd in each of those tournaments.
When asked how many times she hit Tiger with the golf club, she responded, "I'm not sure...put me down for an 8!

I thought they won the HOF at OKC?

ASA Nationals Entry Fee - $600
Travel Expenses to Roseville, CA - $10,000.
Boom Box Cooler loaded with all your fav riffs - $500.

Watching all them grown men walk around with a pepper on their head - PRICELESS

Nope - they took 2nd. They beat Tx Glory and FW BatBusters to make it to the 'Ship but lost to a great T-n-T team out of Yukon Oklahoma.

I forgot to mention that the Peppers also won the Colorado Fireworks back in July.

They took 2nd place in the Fireworks tournament in '06 as a 1st year team 12U.

Can anyone tell me about the 10U Sweet Gold (Burleson) and 10U Tx Elite (McKinney). They are coming down to Baytown next weekend. TPS and Texas Crossfire will be there too. Ought to be good competition from what I hear.

Thanks

Most of the girls on McClasky's team are playing school ball this season, so I would think that means they will be back together after that is done. They played mostly 18U this past season, so they were not in too many 14U tournaments.

14U should be the most interesting age division in '08 with 6 or 7 really good teams beating each other up trying to reach Midland. The qualifying tournaments for HOF and nationals should be fun to watch.

Top 10U A teams to look at in the state

The Bombers tournament this past weekend in Seguin proved to be where the powerhouse of the powerhouses were. What unbelievable talent at this young age. We saw kids hitting the ball clear to the fence (and the fences posted signs said 308 feet), not rolling but hit. Dynamic pitching and awesome defensive plays rounded the weekend out. If you watched it you wouldn't have believed they were pure 97 teams.

North Texas (DFW area) and South Texas (Houston) teams represented. The top 5 teams in this tournament of 24 teams, 3 were from DFW 1st, 3rd, 5th and the other 2 were from the Houston area TPS and Red Hots.

Bombers what a great tournament you put on, I know there were some negative talks about the unpires but you ran an awesome tournament. Don't know when the last time we went to a tournament where the fields were drug and chalked after each game, the games were ahead of schedule. Great jobs

So to all of you who follow the 12U and 14U, there is some great ball being played at the 10U level and I have no doubt the Texas teams will represent well at Nationals.

Great job
1st place the tournaments undefeated 97 Texas Elite (DFW)
2nd place - 97 TPS (Houston area)
3rd place - 97 Sweeet Gold (DFW)
4th place - 97 Red Hots (Houston area)
5th place - 97 Texas Glory (DFW)
5th place - 97 Crossfire (Houston area)

They are strong. They finished 3 and 1 at the Bomber shoot out this weekend.
