DD took her SAT's as a sophomore, scored 1970, included that in emails to coaches and assistant coaches (very important). She also said in her email that 1970 was not sufficient and she would be retaking the SAT's with a goal of 2100. She ended up re-emailing those same coaches noting the second round of SAT's yielded 2170. Read: take the test multiple times. Time during the test is a big factor. Once you experience it the road smooths out.
Take AP classes. Regardless of what happens with recruiting it will help in college. Grades matter. DD's 4.31 GPA was noticed.
Clearly define what would be a perfect or near-perfect school:
- size
- location
- weather
- typical class size
- potential majors, generic (business, science, pre-med, etc.)
These sound simple. They are not. Do you want to sit in a lecture hall with 370 other people? Or one with 19 people. Some like being less conspicuous in the classroom. Some like being in an intense, small group. Neither is right. It's fit. Do you want a school with 1900 students or 25,000. Again, benefits to both. Do you want one near home, far away, in the same region or ??? Do you want seasons, snow, sunshine, whatever. Pick a school you would go to if it DIDN'T have a softball team.
There are many great attributes and ideas for getting from A to B. Check this board, including older posts. There are many great ideas, lots of insights and opinions.
