That’s exactly what happened! This parent needs to be banned from the fields. He shouldn’t be allowed to come near a park. I feel bad for his daughter, she will be the only one affected by his actions.

On the REBELS DEFENSE, It has been known that the coaching staff does not allow inappropriate cheers towards a team, especially inappropriate comments towards a player on the opposite team.

I thought Dan and Gary did a great job this weekend. Gary was answering his phone Saturday when we called, and Dan was there late into Sunday night to finish the tournament.

As far as the complaints about schedules, game times, etc. I think all that does is take a team's focus off of what we are all there for, to play as best as we can.

We were on the upper fields, so we didn't see any of the trouble, but I wouldn't want my family or team to be around that atmosphere anyways.
Since I didn't see what happened, I can't give an opinion regarding who was at fault, but it sounds like common sense wasn't used, and that things started long before, during the game, not after it was over.

I also think a team's players and families take on the personalities of the coaches and staff that run it. With that said, I thought every team we played this weeekend had coaches and families that showed respect and sportsmanship, and provided a good atmosphere for their girls.

To the Victory girl who injured her shoulder in our pool game on Saturday: I hope you are ok and that you can get back out on the field to help your team. It was good to see you later in the day Saturday with a smile on your face and not in the pain you had been in earlier.
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.

There are, in fact, a lot of friends and family on both sides. Whomever said this guy was just walking up trying to talk is on some kind of crack...or hallucinogens of some type. Even his own people said he was running towards us on our side and that he was crazy....Some people say he was drunk (Which if he was he should have never been allowed to drive off with his daughter in the car). He ran for a long, long way.. We were shocked and headed towards him with arms out yelling Stop Stop..There are kids around! but he didn't stop. He came into the crowd.
What would you do if you looked up and some guy hits your wife in the face and knocks her down? Stand there and say please stop. That's not ghetto in my book..That's defending your own. Not too many men are going to stand and let their wives/girlfriends get hit, knocked down, insulted in front of their daughter, etc. and not react.
It was totally wrong. In my 28 years of organized softball, I have never seen anything like it. But I was standing right there in the middle of it all and was one of the people trying to stop this guy. I don't see how it could have been avoided once the parent ran (RAN) into the crowd 60 yards away.

Maybe you didn't read the all the posts. Some of the Classless and idiots (I believe Ghetto was used too) would be from the parents who decided to stand around the snack bar and make comments to the affect of "did you see those white girls cry?" Yeah, I would think that is classless, maybe even ghetto.

I'm thinking everyone agrees that the parent was WAY out of line. Maybe not hitting back, but detaining him until the police arrive would have been better. Why weren't the police called. I would have been on that phone so quick he wouldn't even know what hit him.

How about the fact that people thought he was drunk and allowed him to drive his child home. I really hope he wasn't. If he was, child protective services would need to be involved.

While my DD's team is dark for high school, I coach at our local rec league. I have a 12U team that I'm trying to teach the fundamentals of softball (along with their parents). I'm always encouraging them to get out of our little bubble and come out and watch some travel ball games.
I'm glad I did not send my team to Surf City this weekend or my rec parents would have thought I was crazy!
It is appalling to hear that these ridiculous parents ego's interfere with the fun atmosphere of a 12U softball game.

This is such a crucial time in our young female athletes lives. Between 12U and 14U is when the highest rate of drop out occurs in girls sports. AND now is the time when it's most important to keep them involved.
Parents need to get a clue and check their egos at the door when it comes to their kids athletic activities.

If someone ran swinging into the women on our team, I would still be beating him when the cops showed up. Vigilante justice is way underrated these days.

That said, "did you see the little white girls crying" is pathetic and inexcusable. G...H...E...T...T...O!!
There is no charge for awesomeness

Coach Kenny wasn't talking to Aimee or the dugout, he was telling his batters something to which Aimee took offense to and she addressed him first, then he responded, then Aimee complained to the umpire.

The parent who started yelling Aimees name I can only surmise was in response to all the Rebel parents screaming their REBELS chant when they rallied in the 2nd inning - I assume it was to show the same respect to the coach that trying to confuse and intimidate with the team chant is meant to do to the opposite team. No other Angels parents were out of control, they were trying to difuse the situation between the two parents. Aimee's boyfriend did approach the Angels side of the stands first when the parent started yelling "sucks" after Rebels parents were screaming/chanting AIMEE after the game and yelling back "Sucks What?" and then it got really ugly.

Bad behavior on both people and no excuse at all for this unfortunate occurance at ANY type of sports event, let alone 12U girls softball.

I'm glad you responsed, I guess you never seen fans cheer for their team when a team comes from behind???? Saying Rebels is not the same as picking on a particular individual. Did the Rebels yell Coach Kennnnnny name in the middle of game??? NO! He could have said Angels right??? No he said her name so that's personal period!!! Oh by the way they do have spell checking on here I think you should use it next time, also her name is Amie not Amiee . You have a nice day now.
