Reach out to Marty and Gary???? Exactly what do they have to do with any of this? I think you are getting loopy from all of your posts, 27 in this thread at last count, but who is counting
Just to refresh your memory...

AMsoftball wrote:This is the ONLY thing I am going to say because due to the investigation, my lawyer advised me not to speak on this

Maybe you should have followed your own advice. This thread probably would have died a long time ago.

First off, I thought it was obvious why I would reach out to them but let me explain. One, I respect both of them. Two, it was Gary's tournament. Three, the tournament director told ME that he was on the phone with Marty because it is his organization and four because unlike their parent, I can sit down and have a conversation.

I don't care if I post a million times on any topic. I didn't start this thread.

My bad, I wll stop blogging on a blog site.

enough is enough 20 some pages of the same stuff.

1) Everyone hates the Rebel Chant-get rid of it, makes the rebels look classless
2) Angel parent that started the fight- should be booted from any game for 1 year
3) Rebels parents made fun of the white girls crying- if white parents made that comment Jesse Jackson would be called.
4) Angel parents and Rebel parents should take anger management classes together
I'm not driving....

Wow, i've read through about 90% of these posts and it sickens me to know that something of this caliber actually took place during a 12u softball game. What worries me is that no matter how horrible this was for the girls on both teams, based on what i've read from parents/fans on these teams, neither is condemning the incident. Everyone is busy explainig their side of the story trying to play it as is the other side was in the wrong. The truth of it is that both sides were wrong and are still wrong. The incident seems to have been completely preventable had people just used their logic, yet it seems as if logic is foreign based on some of the posts throughout the thread. Both Corona Angels and CA Rebels parents, coaches, and fans should be embarrassed and apologetic towards the Surf City representatives who work hard to bring this tournament to life, apologetic to their girls and all other children who may have witnessed this, and to the softball community that has worked so hard to make this sport a positive experience for our girls. Going back and forth pointing fingers and ranting about chants, cheers, and why your side was in the right just exposes an uneducated premature mindset.
Dan Hay and Gary Hanning, I truly hope this unexcusable incident does not discourage you from continuing to provide a classy and fun environment for our children. My little one is a few years away from experiencing the March Classic and I truly hope it's still around when her run at travel comes around.

Let's call a spade a spade. I am a born and bred Las Vegas Runnin' Rebel. I have done that chant in the shark tank hundreds of times (in my 20's and with an alcohol level well above the driving level). It is meant to intimidate and kill any hopes that the opposing team has. Yes, also to inspire the home team, but that is more of a byproduct.

I was also a coach on the Lil' Rebels 12U travel team until my daughter aged out. There was awhile when our girls would do the Rebel chant when they started a rally. We didn't have a problem with 12 year olds doing this. When our parentsstarted the Rebel chant, we noticed it was when we had a big lead and/or they were annoyed with the other teams parents and wanted to rub it in. The parent's had changed the purpose of that chant. That's when we put an end to it. We were trying to build an organization with class. A team that would intimidate with our play and coaching, not how loud our parents yelled.

I'm done preaching now.

Ok, this will be my last post on this thead and hopefully people come speak to us personally if you have a problem.

If you feel our cheer is classless, then we will be classless and agree to disagree because I see classless things all the time by other teams and do not whine about it. To each is their own on what is class.

The "white girl comment" was made by a WHITE PERSON and I have spoken with the parents and it was definitely taken out of context.

Good luck to everyone this season.

Thank you and I have had NUMEROUS parents and Corona Angel parents already write us an apologize. If it was the "ghetto Rebels," why did CA parents apologize? Just curious on that. The tournament director took both sides and after hearing our side allowed us to continue playing so if we were at fault, why were we not kicked out? Add everything up and common sense tells you that the losing team was probably frustrated much more than the Rebels.

Two things:

First, the CA coaches / parents most likely apologized because they understand a member of their "team family" was in part responsible for the incident. Apologizing would be the stand-up thing to do. Did any Rebel parents or coaches apologize for their role?

Second, when I add everything up, common sense tells me to get the children out of there, as quickly as possible. Take them somewhere they feel safe, where you can discuss what happened.

Putting them back out on the field, and subjecting them to the beating they took, is unconscionable. What the hell were you thinking?

Exactly what I have been thinking. Think this incident had anything to do with the "10 errors" mentioned earlier in this thread?

So you think it would have been better that the kids, who worked hard to get to the Championship game, should have been told forget it? Wow I'm glad you aren't on my team. That would be worse for the kids in my opinion. They deserved to play, regardless of the outcome. They earned it by advancing to it.

then why were you threatening to just take your team out of the tournament if coach kenny wouldnt be quiet...
you know after all the hard work you guys went through???

Coach Kenny wasn't talking to Aimee or the dugout, he was telling his batters something to which Aimee took offense to and she addressed him first, then he responded, then Aimee complained to the umpire.

The parent who started yelling Aimees name I can only surmise was in response to all the Rebel parents screaming their REBELS chant when they rallied in the 2nd inning - I assume it was to show the same respect to the coach that trying to confuse and intimidate with the team chant is meant to do to the opposite team. No other Angels parents were out of control, they were trying to difuse the situation between the two parents. Aimee's boyfriend did approach the Angels side of the stands first when the parent started yelling "sucks" after Rebels parents were screaming/chanting AIMEE after the game and yelling back "Sucks What?" and then it got really ugly.

Bad behavior on both people and no excuse at all for this unfortunate occurance at ANY type of sports event, let alone 12U girls softball.

I'm glad you responsed, I guess you never seen fans cheer for their team when a team comes from behind???? Saying Rebels is not the same as picking on a particular individual. Did the Rebels yell Coach Kennnnnny name in the middle of game??? NO! He could have said Angels right??? No he said her name so that's personal period!!! Oh by the way they do have spell checking on here I think you should use it next time, also her name is Amie not Amiee . You have a nice day now.

Actually, I have many times seen and heard fans cheer for their team. The Rebels chant is annoying, loud and meant to distract the opposing team and it is successful. I was just guessing on why he started yelling her name, it was rude and personal against her, you are correct and IMO uncalled for. Spell check? Who really cares how she spells her name, seriously? Besides spell check shows AMY.

OUCH !!.............................hey you said it.....................I just read it.............

You should watch this video idiot!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-lgCVKiFm8

lol. The day that I get rick-rolled by an assclown like you is the day I cash in my chips.

If you, as a parent and, presumably, an adult, chant at your daughter's softball game, for any reason whatsoever, regardless how much you are "behind" them, then you, my witless friend, are a world-class jackass.

And you obviously aren't behind your girls 100 percent, since I can point to at least one person who is behind his girls more. Have you made obscene gestures, cussed at the other coach, or bum-rushed any women on an opposing team? No? Well until you do, you're just a knuckle-dragging piker. Grow a set and really get behind them why don't you?
