I was not there, so who knows what exactly happened. But if one of my parents (any of them) was in the stands flipping people off, pelvic thrusts, cussing, I would have personally walked off the field(Immediately), into the stands, and told the parent to leave the park. We would not continue until he left, and if he didnt leave immediately, his daughter would be done on my team.

It is one thing to say we condone the behavior after the fact, but why wasnt something done as soon as all that BS started? Coaches need to take responsibilityy for EVERYTHING that happens with their teams. And parent behavior is part of their team.

I believe they said they "DO NOT" condone that type of behavior.........

After reading all this it's sad to see that the player is the one hurt by this. Cudos to the Angel organization for dealing with this problem. It would be nice to see other organizations do the same thing. In the end, it is the coaches responsability to deal with the behavior of the parents. If this was nipped in the bud the player would still be on the team, no fight & no cops.

On a lighter side, when a post gets this long is there a cliff note section.

Sorry I don't post often but it seems like there is so much hate on this board..and haters..You are talking about the coaches, parents, and kids saying they are classless etc. without any thought that they are human, reading what you say. Making jokes, making fun of people, being sarcastic, being cruel, but I guess that is what you do for fun. Are you showing any class when you put stuff like that about kids out there? I am sure that there are many nice people on both teams. No one should be putting and labeling 12 year old girls as the most vilified team, etc. etc. That is wrong ...

Wow never mind..softballgrammy said it better...

Is it just me, or is Stan the Man starting to look like coach of the year all of a sudden?

Future jackasses take note:
Did you see what happened to the CTS thread after Stan came on here, admitted to being human, admitted to making mistakes, and at least verbally accepted the collective wisdom/input of the softball community? That thread dried up and withered away immediately.

Compare that to the TNL thread last year, or the Softball Soldiers thread, where the coaches and parents categorically denied any wrongdoing and defiantly rejected the opinion of the community. Those threads, like this one, were epic.

Unlike the trailer parks that many of you apparently hail from, the softball community is small, relatively close-knit, family oriented, with corresponding norms of conduct and interpersonal respect. You can't just do whatever you want and act however you like and expect for there to be no consequences.

In Japan there is a saying: "the nail that sticks up gets pounded down." Well, if you insist on sticking up, eventually the rest of us are going to tire of snagging our socks on you. And right here on Heybucket is where we do the pounding.
There is no charge for awesomeness
...or attractiveness.

wow, how am i supposed to get any work done with all the beating of the dead horse going on?

I said it on around page 8 or so, and I will say it again:
a team's players and families take on the personality of the coaches and staff running it.
a $1 parking pass is not considered paying for a sporting event where you can say/yell whatever you want. common courtesy, common sense, and mutual respect go a long way to having a satisfying, balanced experience at your kid's sporting event, and allows your kid to grow and learn to love this great game.

so...back to the original intent of this post...
regarding the 14 division, there were some good games going on all weekend, and it was cool to see some out of the area teams like lady sharks from norcal.
IMO, far from a weak, watered-down tournament that our grouchy, anonymous poster described in another thread.
don't hate, don corleone, participate. ;)
...or maybe you were there, i don't know...

TNL is very strong, not sure which 14 team their studs will be playing for when states come around, but they will make their team a contender.

I was impressed with minors gold, lena has them playing disciplined and working together as a team.

Victory95 was around at the end like usual, don't count them out.

OCBB96 was still playing late Sunday, gotta give them some credit also, and i wonder what impact they would have made in the 12 division.

Thanks to Gary and Dan for gettting teams an opportunity to play at the sports complex.
note to the city: put a fricking portapotty down by field 8!
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.

softballgrammy wrote:Hello Children,

Yeah, I've been resting peacefully until I was woken up by the "Hater Brigade". This message is basically to the CA and Rebels organizations. Keep your heads up. I hope you know exactly what is going on here. I know you do. Trust me, if this happened during a game between the Beverly Hills Brunettes and the Laguna Beach Ladies, the word "ghetto" would have never been used and this whole thing would have been swept under the table. The funny thing is, the "white girl comment" was said by a white person. Obviously taken out of context. Why didn't Hotwheels, say that it was said by a "white person"? He was right there, and that would have killed that whole argument? Do you see where I'm going with this? Can you say "Hater Brigade"? I know for sure, that both of your teams have beaten all of the members of the "Hater Brigade". Now they will try and take this opportunity to discredit your organizations and tarnish your image, thus trying to weaken your team. I know for a fact, that both of you are decent people. I know that both of you dedicate countless hours to these girls and I know that their parents appreciate your efforts. I think you can take this opportunity, to solidify your teams and make a tighter unit. Parents of both organizations, you are smart people, talk to your kids about what happens, when adults take this game too seriously. Explain that people make mistakes and that their are consequences. Just another life lesson, period.

I applaud the way you guys have handled this situation. I know that there is mutual respect here. Aimiee, just like on the field, you have proven to be a tough competitor, and just like on the field, you have been successful in defeating the haters. It was wonderful to hear you defend your team, and tirelessly give your perspective. They would much rather you shut up. I think you showed a great example of a strong woman, standing up for herself, even when getting teamed up against by a bunch of geeky ass pencil necked men. You have always given honest and accurate input on this site. I think you acted appropriately and with class, throughout the whole discussion. Great Job.

Kenny, I applaud your restraint. It shows confidence, intelligence, and safety. I would hate to see one of these pencil necks cross the line, to find themselves getting bitch slapped (not in front of kids) in the parking lot of their DD's friendly. Not that you would, but it would be good, if you could. Trust me, they don't want that. They don't understand, that it is just a man thing and men are responsible for shutting their own mouths. I once heard a story about a man, a "good man", who leveled a guy at a Bar-B-Que for saying bad words in front of his wife. Different men, have different lines, pencil necks and geeky bloggers beware!

Don't tell me Spaz, your gonna delete my post again because I talked about your other half again. Spaz is one of the senior members of the Hater Brigade, he's tough because he has a "delete" button. Since he has that power, he now thinks he is an authority. Let's see, give the power to delete, to someone who has an 8 year old kid running around with a bottle of whiskey. #1, you really need to think about taking away Spaz's delete button. It's bad for this site. You seem to have a fair perspective on things. You should control the delete button.

Skarp, Skarp, Skarp. I've always told you son to be careful who you hang with. Now you have a couple little groupies swinging from your little jock strap. Don't be guilty by association, just because you have a golden mouthpiece. If I didn't know you from taking you to all those chess tournaments, I might mistake you for being a prick.

Porcupine, quit swinging from the jocks of the "regulars", aka The Hater Brigade. You're not that smart, but you are a prick. You know what groupies get right? They get the business, then they get to go home with no phone call. Ron Mexico, you don't even know  .

Haaaaayyyyters.....Haaaaaaayyyyters.....Haaaaayyyyters....Haaaaaaayyyyyters
Haaaaayyyyters.....Haaaaaaayyyyters.....Haaaaayyyyters....Haaaaaaayyyyyters

GO CORONA ANGELS and REBELS! Keep on whippin' em' ;)

First off, I have personally spoken to the Coach of the Rebels by way of email and have given her all the information necessary for HER to deal with. I haven't been involved with this discussion for many, many pages due to the fact that I had stated that I would only speak on what I knew and saw for my own eyes. I have also not posted for the simple fact that I am not a member of your so called "Hater Brigade"......

I replied to a handfull of posts of what OTHERS saw and then left the discussions because I felt there were too many people speaking when they weren't there and neither was I so what's the point?? As stated, I am not a hater of either team!

I was successfull in getting in touch with Aimie and it has been taken care of therefore why post any further on the subject....I apologize to you Grammy and will make sure that next time instead of going to the Coach I will go directly to YOU!.....I personally felt that the physical description of who said what didn't belong on here.....I have too much respect for both the Angels and Rebels both to continue posting on this topic and talking about things that I DID NOT SEE....Sorry I didn't go to you directly Grammy.....By the way, if a white person said it does that make it right??

Softballgrammy,

I am glad you have chimed in, my point throughout this useless drivel is that this is a game played by 11-12 year olds. Travel softball should be for the further softball education of those girls who choose to play this game at a higher level and hopefully one day get a decent college education out of it.

When we as parents try to make this game more what it is, our daughters suffer. The only victims in this whole assorted mess were the girls from both teams having to witness adults acting like childern. As Hot Wheels said it takes 2 generally to start something.

So both the Rebels and Angels parents who were involved need to take responsibilty for what has happened, learn from it and move on. This travelball community that we play is small, so very small. We need to learn to quit being competitive and channel that energy into making our daughters, into young ladies that can learn the values of working together as a team, and what can and cannot be accomplished in life. This should be about teaching our daughters how to achive goals, the hard work it takes to get those goals and how to interact and achieve in different environments.

Softballgrammy, I do know, and was simply agreeing with some of the things being said. :!:
