New USTSA California Director

What's on your mind?

by ustsadirector » Wed Apr 01, 2009 9:05 pm

As of Monday March 30th, Joe Butler was appointed the new USTSA California State Director. Joe will be heading up USTSA in California. If you would like to host a fundraiser tournamnent and have it sanctioned with USTSA please give Joe a call at (800) 948-8660. Joe will also be recruiting directors in Northern California. USTSA is on a mission to provide the same quality events that has made us so successful with USTBA (baseball). Joe is the San Diego Director for USTBA the website is http://www.ustbasandiego.com
Joe's background in the fastpitch arena comes from several years of umpiring USSSA and Triple Crown tournamnets. He holds a high standard for umpires in his tournaments, using only some of the best in Southern California. Teams that participated in the San Diego Grand Slam recently, experience the quality that Joe brings to his tournaments.
Locally and nationally USTBA has hosted events with over 80 teams in one event. This summer the USTBA (baseball) Nationals will have over 120 teams participating from 4 different states. We see that same potential with USTSA. Hawaii is on the books for a USTSA Summer Nationals event in 2010.

I hope that Robert Melendrez left accurate records of the teams that paid to play in the Feb 7-8 rained out event. That tournament was moved to May 23-24 and there are no teams listed to play even though all teams were told they would be rolled over to that tournament.

I completely understand what's at stake here and know there has been a lot of damage done to the USTSA name. I can assure you I will do my very best to see that all the teams entering in future USTSA tournaments will be handled in professional manner, much like I have handled events with USTBA (baseball). What you haven't heard is what I have done already with USTSA in San Diego. I have handed out free entries to tournaments or have reduced fees by 50%.
The only logical action I can take with teams that are owed a tournament or refund is handling each team on case by case basis. I believe strongly that even with the damage that has been done that the organization will survive. I have a passion for baseball and girl’s fastpitch and have experienced some poorly ran tournaments under other organizations, those organizations need competition so you the customer get a better product. When you find out what USTSA is really about, I think you will be pleased. We had a very successful USTBA (boy’s baseball) Presidents Day tournament in San Diego in February with over 60 teams participating and that's with only 1 year of USTBA in California. I expect that now that USTSA is now under my direction in California the program will flourish.

JUST WANT LET YOU KNOW I HAVE REC SEVERAL EMAILS FROM OTHER TEAMS THAT MONEY WAS NOT REFUNDED TO THEM AS WELL!! I NEVER AGREED TO PLAY IN ANOTHER TOURNAMENT IN MAY NOR DID I KNOW ABOUT ANOTHER DATE, OR WILL WE PLAY ON OTHER DATE!! I HAVE A SAVED VOICE MAIL FROM ROBERT/USTSA PUTTING THE BLAME ON SOMEONE ELSE AND THAT HE WAS AWAITTING FOR A REFUND AND HE WAS WORKING TWO JOBS BUT NOT TO WORRY OUR REFUND IS COMING, WHICH NEVER DID. HE TOLD ANOTHER TEAM THAT THE PAY PAL NEVER TRANSFERRED TO HIS ACCT. IT HAS BEEN ALL LIES. THEN RICK(ROBERTS'S BROTHER) FROM USTBA SAYS GIVE HIM A COUPLE OF DAYS AND HE WOULD CALL US BACK AND NOW HE'S NOT RETURNING CALLS!! WE NEED OUR REFUND!!
