Ummmm ZIG, on another board, didn't someone call you a "he" because of the masculine Ziggy avatar, and you corrected them by saying you're a she and your name was Carol? And you think someones wife is hot? Hmmmm....

The czar is humbled. This is a scouting report for my fellow HB'ers from the Houston area. It is no secret about my loyalties to H-Town and its level of softball and my disdain for the arrogance of N Tx softball. I have long been involved with fastpitch in the Houston area and my DD has been on some very competitive team. Currently, she is on one that is consistently mentioned as Top 5 in this area. Unfortunately, I missed the High Voltage tournament this past weekend because of some family obligations. My wife was there, however, and said there were some great games. I was in Dallas this past weekend with my borther's family. I got my softball fix by going out and watching the tournament in McKinney. Dont tell my DD this but in some ways i was actually glad i was up there and not watching her because i was curious to see some NTX softball. My fellow coastal brethren please take note, NTX softball is for real. I watched 96 Glory play Lady Longhorns. I saw the Longhorns at the Bomber so i kinda knew what to expect. They didnt play particularly well, but won it as time expired with a home run. Exciting stuff. I really was anxious to see Glory because I am familiar with the Glory name and thought all of their teams were strong. They were a decent team with a good pitcher. She is tall and looks to throw it pretty hard. Not necessarily anything dramatically better than what we see here, but she is a good pitcjer. Honestly, I think these 2 teams are pretty evenly matched and Longhorns played better than at Bomber. Both are pretty good hitting teams. I also watched Tx Force and was impressed with them. I had never heard of them and havent seen them mentioned before in reagrds to 12U teams. I saw one of their games and they looked solid. Fundamental team with agressive base-runner and offensive philosophy. The team I was most interested in was the Diamonds because of their previous track record. In the past, I have made some pretty strong comments about this team and some were really done tongue-in-cheek. I watched a whole game Saturday and part of another later that day. I also saw the last 30 minutes of their game on Sunday. They are the best team I have seen. They have some girl that needs to either have her id checked or she needs to me tested for HGH. She was huge and swung a big stick and had a smooth lefty-swing. Their was another girl right behind her that was just as big but i didnt see her hit the ball like the lefty. Someone said she was a pitcher but i never saw her pitch so i dont know how good or bad she is from that standpoint. They had some speed as well. Short stop was fun to watch and i saw the prettiest 1-6-3 DP in a long time. They had a solid catcher that threw out a couple of girls. The pitching i saw was pretty solid although i didnt see a lot of heat. Looked like a lot of movemet pitches, either curves, drops or screws and a lot of off-speed stuff. Dont know if they played better than normal, normal or below normal. I do know this, they are damn good and are the best defensive team I have seen. Dont get me wrong, I still live and breathe Houston softball, but was surprised by the level of play i saw this weekend.

First of all, there is one thing I know to be true in softball...anybody can beat or be beaten by anybody. Yes, I think the top 3 teams from here can compete against them!!! However considering this was their first tournament of the year according to VTD they looked awfully strong. Like I said, best team I have seen play and looked like an ASA championship caliber team. Their one weakness appeared to be their bats, but that is true for a lot of teams just starting off the year and seeing live pitching for the first time in months. All of their girls are huge with the exception of S/S and an outfielder or two and a couple look like they could start for their football teams. Bottom line, they appear to be the real deal and I know we would have to play error free ball just to compete.

Do you know who won the tournament? Who were the other top teams?

Will Kaos be playing all the 95's on the 97 team?
or maybe the 96's on the 95 team?

Are the peppers sandbagging one this weekend?
Maybe trying to figure out the roles on their new found fortunes?
Trying to figure out how to get pitching time enough for 4 bracket pitchers!

Is there any new news about Storm Elite breaking up? I suspect that it is only a matter of time... Will Fred take the defectors back? Will the ex-Bandits coach take back those girls with his new team in the spring? Will the 96 Kaos take back the last defector? My guess is, yes, they already took back one defector....

doittoit wrote: What's going to happen when other pitchers (that are left since one already bolted and another is fixing to) leave too? Looks to me like the Peppers, I mean Sudden Impact should be getting a couple of their players back?

What do you think HBers? Is ziggy = doittoit; doittoit = ziggy? Seems like ziggy and doittoit have the same interest in teams and maybe even players????
