What do you consider a 16u "A" level player..?

Does it do any good (as far as recognition by college coaches) to play and win ASA Nationals at the lower levels (like Indiana Thunder 10U A champs two years ago and 12U ASA Northern Nationals last year)? I know the experience is great for a kid on a team like that but does it get them any "brownie points" come recruitment time?

If you were a college coach would you care at all if a kid's team won 12U Nationals? Or 14s for that matter. At the end of the day it only matters how a kid performs when being watched.

John please send us some warm California weather would you. It snowed here Monday and is supposed to be close to 6o today. Love this weather.

To be recruited you have to first get on a schools radar screen and then when the coach is there to watch the player needs to perform.

Get to go see DD's first high school game tonight and all I can say is it June yet???

The warm weather is in the mail. But, alas, it may be another government program that doesn't deliver. OTOH, adversity builds character, right? So CA kids work on their softball game and your kids work on what's important. And the winner is ...

Another thing I noticed with recruiting is that there is an aspect that is a crap shoot. Some bigger name schools see a kid and want her and some lesser schools see the same kid and have no interest. You can't take it personally nor is it probably wise to extrapolate from one decent schools interest to universal desire by all of that coaches peers.

More drivel from Corporal Obvious. (I promoted myself from Private)
