Thanks for the props j.a.t1. Always root root root for the "home" team. We were excited to get the H. S. season started just because we knew we had two girls coming up that played travel ball all winter and three sophs that have played extensive travel. And for a 2A school that's a big deal. They have exceeded our expectations already. We're 2-2 after playing three teams (one was a dbl hdr)that beat us last yr. The double hdr being with the team that ran away in conf.last year. This time it was 6-4 and 10-6 but took them to 9 inninngs.

Rocket4 are you a Monrovia parent? If so the doubleheader was enjoyable and competitive...the two "gator" girls, pitcher and shortstop/catcher are very talented as are a few other players(couple good hitters from a travel team whose name I could not read on their helmets). Good luck with the rest of your season.

My random thoughts.

Center Grove has yet to allow a run.

Greenwood is much improved and will get even better in the next two years.

Carmel and New Pal are the real deal.

Roncalli is hitting the crap out of it.

Avon is rolling as well.

Decatur Central is quitely getting better every game.

The influx of freshmen travel kids to programs like Edinburgh, Monrovia, Speedway, Riverton Parke, North Central Farmersburg, Northview. etc... are making reading the scores more interesting and will make sectionals more interesting I am sure.

FC's JV team may be able to give their varsity all they can handle right now.

High School Softball Politics Suck.

DD had 8 K's in 3 innings of work the other night. :D

High School Softball Politcs Suck.

Is it June yet.

Thanks da60,and same to you.Your right it was pretty competitive and enjoyable. Sorry about all the commotion outside the fence but we did have a pretty unusual call at a pretty inopportune time late in that second game.By the way, that was not #4's dad as was reported by spdwy to the IHSAA.

Rocket4...felt bad for your team(player got tossed late in the second game of double header for artifically warming her bat by keeping it tucked inside her jersey, I was informed she along with the coach had been warned several times, rocket4 could answer better)..I can say this, I wanted our pitcher(who plays on our eclipse team)to face her again...your player is a VERY good hitter(so i'm not sure why she would have been trying to warm the bat if in fact she had been warned)...anyway, Monrovia has some real talent, good luck to them the rest of the season and I hope we do not draw them first round of sectional...upcoming week will be a test for us...North Putnam on Monday/Tuesday, Lutheran on Thursday(I'm praying the weather is good because I want our hitters to face one of the best pitchers in Indiana)and Greenwood on Saturday.

da60, While I will never understand a player or coach not adhering to an umpire's repeated warnings on any rule, the instance you are describing borders on absurd. IHSAA spends lots of time and effort on rules and regulations that are mind boggling, but to make a rule that can cause disqualification over a kid manually keeping their bat warm takes the cake. If I read this correctly, only the player's body heat was used; no commercial bat warmer or super-heater meant to change the bats inherent characteristics. We played last week in temps in the upper 30's, where almost every hitter was left shaking their hands after making contact with the pitch. I doubt whether an unfair advantage was gained by the player keeping her bat inside her jersey, maybe she kept from stinging her hands on contact or damaging the bat. Where is the line drawn on this? Could a player be prohibited from rubbing their hands on the barrel before an at bat? We can't manage to get IHSAA to institute safety bags at 1st base, where an injury might actually be prevented, but instead they make a issue out of using body heat to warm a chilled bat. Boy,can't wait till June rolls around.

Haven't seen many games, but so far no surprises. DD's team - McCutcheon - is beating who they should beat. The loss of Tori Collins will hurt, but the pitching is above average and they return a lot of seniors. The JV looks good, much better than I thought. Good prospects for the future. Twin Lakes (Monticello) looked good both JV and varsity. This week we'll see Benton Central and Delphi, two small schools that usually have good athletes. The big one comes tomorrow against cross-county rival Harrison and they always bring their A game for McC. Looks like business as usual in this part of the state.
