SWINE FLU ---Texas High Schools postpone UIL competition

by MCM » Wed Apr 29, 2009 1:26 pm

There is not a rule but most of the better HS programs will not let Varsity players play during the season. Many of the HS girls will only be in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs now on Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th if the coaches decide to play 2 out of 3. Our Team has 4 girls that are on teams that won their district so it is impossible to schedule the HOF. We are just SOL!!

I wonder if ASA will pull the plug on select tournaments or can they. If the swine flu continues to spread here in Texas, what parent would want there daughter at a place that could have 400 to 500 girls from all over the state and a better chance of passing the swine flu around. Just a thought.

Wondering about all sports as well. We're scheduled to be at GRB in Houston this weekend at a VB qualifying tournament. 64 courts playing at the same time. That's alot of potential for exposure. At least softball is outside. I'd rather we were playing softball this weekend.

Just saw that ALL softball games in Ft. Worth have been cancelled this weekend due to the Swine Flu.

HOF should be put out a week or two to accomadate all teams ! This is a terrible issue and a lot of teams are about to get the shaft.

Someone always gets the shaft if you move the date then there will be someone that won't be able to make the new date. Just one more reason if your team has H. S. players you should play 16U.
