Well, after the NBA slapped that hard punishment on Kobe, I think it will be close.

(that's a joke, btw...)

a very light slap on the back of the head is one game suspension, an obviously premeditated shoulder to the face is a one game suspension, a (probably premeditated) elbow to the throat (if it was really only to the chest, it was just because he missed) is no suspension, a throw into the scorer's table is no suspension...

Am I the only one that sees some disparity here?

Or Rondo's shot to the mouth when the ball is 3 feet away from the guys head. No suspension.

Personally, I doubt Kobe was going for Artest's neck. I think he intended to throw the elbow though, same as when he whacked the defender when he went up for a jumper a couple years ago.

Glad Artest didn't get a suspension, but cmon Ron, running across the court to confront Kobe was something short of discreet. I think Artest and Kobe are both tremendous competitors and have great respect for each other. Think Bird and Magic never threw elbows fignting for position?

Fish, his actions/words demonstrate that people who are inexperienced with deception look foolish when they try to deceive. His attempt at damage control after the game was beneath him. He decked the guy on purpose. End of story. Own it.

Miami should have let young Josh Smith know he is playing with men the first time he took a shot in the paint in the game after his failed showboat dunk. Get carried away celebrating a rout? Get helped off the court in the first quarter of the next game.

Lastly, the next Lakers/Rockets game will be called very closely. They will NOT be allowed to play. Advantage: Rocket's superior free throw shooting.
