Two Magic Teams?

by whatever » Tue May 12, 2009 1:04 pm

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Magic Team that has a Gold Team and 16U team and there is a Magic team looks like Teal colors? Is that team any good? DD is on an 18U (at 14) but everybody, including college coaches, telling us to put her on 16U next season for ultimate exposure -- But on a good 16U. Even though we live NW IN we've played mostly in Illinois. What are the good Indiana teams? An acquaintance from our area pitches for that Magic Gold Team. Is their 16 team good? Their schedule is intense.

I assume you are talking about Indiana Magic. There is also a Munster Magic (or Triple Crown Magic) in the your area.

Indiana Magic Gold is not associated with the other Indiana Magic teams, although they may have been in the past. I believe they qualified for Gold Nationals last year.

The Indiana Magic organization has a 10U team, 2 12U teams, a 14U, 16U and an 18U team. They have all been known to wear teal as well as navy, silver, pink and white.

The 18U team was ASA state champs in 2007 and 2008.

I know Munster Magic well. Played 'em this weekend. When I went on Indiana Magic Gold's website there was a tab for a 16U team that was affiliated with them. Wondering how they were.

Ok, I found the website you're talking about. Disregard my previous post. Completely different organizations.

This is the first year that the Indiana Magic Gold-Clay organization has fielded a 16U team. I'm familiar with several of the kids on the team and yes.....they should be very good. They are managed by Mike Reed (managed the 14U Diamond Chix last year) and are made up of girls from Chix, Indiana Thunder, Granger Fire, Michiana Mystique and other organizations from throughout the State. I believe they use Rochester as their home base for tryouts and practices. They've been flying under the 16U radar on this board but I look for them to compete very well this summer.

The reason no one is talking about them is because they will only play one event (from what i've heard) in the state of Indiana! The rest is all over the country! They are young, some of them could still be at 14U, but will still be better than most! Must be nice to have the money to fly all over the country this summer!

To each it's own.... But I don't understand worldwide travel when the kids from the Magic end up playing right around Indiana anyway. This side of the map has caught up with the left coast, but still lacking in the # of teams and that's about it.
There are plenty of great exposure events within 200 miles of Indy that will get plenty of exposure to local D1 and midwest mid major colleges.
