I believe the 96 Fusion (at that time Batbusters Routon) were also at ASA Nationals in Auburn representing Texas. (North Texas) :D

First let me say the the 96 Diamonds are a class act and The 96 Texas Fury has nothing but respect for them, the Peppers and RedHots from Houston. We would like to wish all 3 teams that qualified for the HOF the best of luck and your teams will represent Texas well. Good luck and we hope to see you in Normal in the summer.

Denver you are kidding right. How in the world do i take you seriously when you refer to all of these rumors you hear down in Houston about the Diamonds. Are they really that big that news of their team travels all the way down there. I am pretty certain there is no rumor up here regarding any Houston team. You are honestly saying you heard a rumor that the team was going to dissolve if they did not win. Wow! That sure sounds like a lot of pressure being put on those 11-13 year old girls. I can understand about reserving judgement if you have not seen them play and it sounds like me yo dont even have a dog in this hunt. However at least i know something about this team and i checked with friends from N Tx in this age group who watched them play. I would think that if you are wasting your time like me in this younger age group that you would have at least checked with buddies or teams that played this weekend either against them or saw them play. To answer the ASA National question there were 3 teams in 2007 Diamonds, BB and Tx Elite. Yes I bring it up because most people on here talking about Normal have no clue what they are talking about. Again there is nothing wrong with PCB but it is not ASA. Also where are all of these Houston teams going to qualify. I mean Peppers and TRH have a shot in OKC. Top 8 advance out of a field of about 32 so you have a 1-4 chance there. None of the supposedly good teams from Houston are signed up for the National Qualifier that same weekend. Are you guys going to rely on a Houston Metro. If so how many teams advance from this. In reality how many teams from Houston are actually going to go to Normal. In other words, how many of you have already booked hotel rooms in Normal? If you have not done so, then it may already be too late.
Damnit ......., get your head in the game!

D/FW is soooo overrated. Yes, in the early age groups their teams have some success. But once they get to 12U and older, the best TEAMS are from Houston. I've read some D/FW posters talk about how over-hyped the 97 Kruzers or Longhorns are. They are wrong, the most over-hyped team in Tx is the Diamonds. What have they done in the past 2 years? Answer: nuthin! They want to brag about playing up in 14U and 16U tournaments only to not place in these tournaments. What's the point? To give you a built in excuse for when you go 3-3 and finish in a tie for 9th place? I've heard from friends in the D/FW grapevine that they are a shell of what they once were and consistently lose to inferior teams. Evidently they have had turmoil on the team and have lost several players in the past few years. It seems to me that if they truly were that good that we would see them more down here in Houston showing off their dominance. They probably know what would happen if they did show up for one of our good tournaments. Fusion is the top team in North Tx.

As far as the HOF goes, I am going on record now as saying they will not finish in the top 3. No North Tx team will, however they will not be the highest finishing team from D/FW. I also get tired of the Pepper heads and their falsely inflated egos. They are the 2nd most over-rated team in Tx. I GUARANTEE they will not finish top 3.

For the record, here is my top 3 in no particular order:

Bandits
Thunder
team from Central Tx - either Bombers or Austin Finest

The czar has spoken!

WHERE R U CZAR!!!! O"WISE ONE--LOL !!!! It appears the CZAR has choked!!!!!! you could always try playing the TEXAS LOTTERY.Maybe you could get that right!!

Thank you

Bob I am right here. If you go back and read some of my other posts you would realize that later I said most of comments were done tongue and cheek. I gave my scouting report on the Diamonds several weeks back. At that time i stated they were for real. In fact, they played even better this weekend then when I saw them back in April. I don't think I was that far off base though. I mean 2 out of 3 did go to Houston and both Austin Finest and Bombers had decent runs. In addition I said that Tx Force was a good team that deserved more attention. I think they wound up being one of the highest placing teams from DFW behind the Diamonds. So to make you happy and all the other N Tx people up there I will give the Diamonds their props. I have stated for the record my DD plays on one of the top teams in Houston. I do agree with my fellow Houstonians that there are more quality teams down here for us to compete against. The Aces are a very good team that did not attend this past weekend. But for the most part everybody else was there. There was a field of 26 teams from all across TX and the Diamonds won so that makes them the champs. I can honestly say that based on what I saw this past weekend against some of the better Houston teams the Diamonds were head and shoulders better than everyone else and were scary good. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that if we played again this weekend we would have the exact same outcome. Do I believe they would finish in the top 3, yes. There I have given you what you are looking for now run along and let us get back to dominating the HB boards.

This is the first time I felt a need to post a statement. This weekend we played some great teams from all over the State of Texas. There was not one team that we played that I thought did not need to be in this tournament. I thought that there were 8 to 10 teams that could represent Texas in the HOF and Nationals with great dignity and pride. I have herd about the Bandits and Thunder and played thr Fury , Peppers , South Texas Riptide and the Red hots every one of these teams could have won this tournament as well as others including Fusion and the Longhorns. The point is that there are a number of teams that have the opportunity to be that special team that represents Texas this year at Normal, Florida, or where ever they choose to play. Good Luck to all, Texas will be very well represented.

Czar said, "I don't think I was that far off base though. I mean 2 out of 3 did go to Houston and both Austin Finest and Bombers had decent runs. "

The Austin Stars beat both Finest and Bombers as well as the Fury on their way to a 4th place finish.

Just thought they should be mentioned ;)

I do remember czar giving the Diamonds some kudos prior to the HOF.

Congrats to all the teams that endured a tough tournament in San Antonio especially all the teams that battled fiercely to the end. Got to give it up to the Red Hots a 97 team placing in this qualifier against some tough 96 teams.

There was 3 teams from DFW that went to Auburn the 96 Diamonds, 96 Batbusters (Routon 96 Fusion) and 96 Elite. Although, the Diamonds were the only team that really competed well in that nationals.

Troy, your girls did a great job during the HOF and most of us from DFW are confident your team will represent DFW well for the remainder of the season. The disbanding rumor was just that, a rumor. That team will remain intact for a long time. They have been able to keep their core girls together for a long time and during the Fall the coach gives them a little break and prevents those girls from getting softball burnout.

96 Fusion, I think they had a rough tournament and I heard there ace pitcher may have been recovering from an injury. So I would imagine once that team is healthy they will be very competitive during the National tournament and will represent DFW well also.

Houston kudos to your teams and I am sure Houston will be well represented in Nationals also. I think this should be a good year for Texas overall during Nationals at least better than 2007. So watch out Cali...

Good Luck to all the Texas Teams for the remainder of the season and hopefully we can start avoiding the Rain outs.
