I wanted to see what pathetic soul could actually care about 10u softball and who is the best at the "entry level" of REAL softball (when pitchers are introduced, I know that most of you haven't even taken that 8u state qualifier sticker off of your car yet)! It truly is humorous to me to see that you are all talking about 10u softball. I find it even more humorous that people get all offended when someone like me tells you all how pathetic you are for caring about wins and losses in 10u softball!!!

Just keep thinking that it matters in 10u and I then you can come to my bank and borrow the money from me to put your 10u daughter through college because you ended her desire to play a great game. PM me and I will hook you up!

Very, very funny to me. I don't care how many views there are on this 10u thread. If the parents of these 10u kids spent as much time and effort in the yard playing with these kids as they do worrying about who is better, their kid would be a lot better off and so would softball in general. If there are 10,000 views that is a sign of just how little people really know about what's important in 10u. (I will give you a hint: IT AIN'T ALL ABOUT WINNING) Don't live through your child. Let them live for themselves. I have seen parents that force their kids to play for a team that they hate so they can win. Should we start calling your kid "Little Todd Marinovich"? Worked out well for them, huh?

Sad :( :( :( :(

There is always some Jackhole that comes on here preaching to everyone about how their kid has a scholarship and we shouldn't care and on and on and on. Most of those posting here are coaches and parents who see each other every weekend, put on the good sportsmanship hat and have fun we then spend a few posts a week joking about whose who in 10U. Maybe 10 years ago 10u was a little different then it is today Cipher. For the regulars here it's just a little old fashion trash talk. Lighten up and enjoy your misery of driving your "better" daughter out of the sport I'm sure the younger one will love to see dear old Dad talk about the one that could have rather then the one who did. :o

 She must be "REALLY" Good :o       SAD it "REALLY" is SAD      sorry 12U/14U is so much more important I didn't realize

I guess my question would be where is the middle scholarship princess in all this? Based on your post I see mention of the older daughter and then an implied span since you where involved in the sport again but no chest bumping and the scholarship you so proudly tossed out there in your 4-5 post here. I'm just saying!!

Posts: 6 My impressions of my first Ronald McDonald
Wow.... What a tournament. My youngest DD is just really starting and this was our first Ronald Mcdonald tournament to play in. Oldest daughter played some ball way back when, and the game has changed a lot since then!

What I learned:
My DD's team is NOT ready to play at the level of a LOT of these teams! I was only there because her team practiced there on Sunday AFTER they were eliminated! The umpiring that I saw was mediocre to say the least. I stayed and watched the championship between the Hawks and Magic and saw some of the craziest things I have ever seen. Illegal pitches that were not called ALL DAY were now being called in the championship game? Two of those gave the Hawks the first run of the game. 2 out bases loaded clean single up the middle, collision between SS and runner on 2b AFTER the ball was clearly through the infield (right OVER 2nd base) and the field ump called interference? He said he thought the SS had a play. I got news for him, Derek Jeter couldn't have made that play. Even the MC Magic laughed at that one! Cost the Hawks a run on that bad call. Just freaky things like that.

I am really surprised at how bad some of the umpiring is nowadays. There are some good ones, but there are some REALLY bad ones. I guess the $30 per game is just not enough for some to take the abuse that they take. (including this)

My impressions of the top 4 (as if anyone cares) {Not "Really" ;) )

MC Magic: Beat us badly. They can hit the ball HARD and they are very smart on the bases! The do not make many mistakes. Good pitching rotation. One that I saw throws hard and the other throws junk. They can bunt and they can hit the ball when they need to. Very impressed with this team and their coaches. They deserved to win. This team is not flashy, but they are fundamentally strong. You make a little mistake and they take advantage! They are SOLID defensively and they took care of business this weekend. Congrats to them.

Hawks: Played 6 or 7 games on Sunday just to get to the championship. Very well coached team that is very aggressive. Snap the ball all over the field with no worries! Solid pitching and best overall infield that I saw all weekend. Watched them make play after play in the infield. 2B made two ESPN type plays on rocket shots in the championship game! Catcher picked off two runners on 3rd with NO OUTS in the game before the championship game. 3B has a rocket arm. Played well all day and beat some good teams. Would like to see them and the Magic play when both teams are rested! That would be a dogfight!

Velocity: Young team that made more mistakes than the older teams. Simple as that. Solid team that was consistently in every game that I saw. Really impressed with their play. They have some kids on this team that can MASH and they are still young. Made a few baserunning mistakes against the Hawks, but this team will be a force in 14U next year to be sure.

Power: As usual, solid play. These kids are good and just seem to be getting better! Well coached team that just gets it done. Like the Velocity, they are mostly 95s that just made a few more mistakes than the 94s that they played. Fundamentally sound in all areas of the game.

Sounds like you took a few wrong turns with your girls and your softball years with them. Thanks for pointing out the pot holes you fell in down the trail, we will try and take your advice. It looks like you might have some left over tension from travel ball. Thanks for the offer on the loan it would be nice to get some of our bail out money back from you bankers. You are really the smart one !! Most of the parents I know would support anything there kid is into. If it was dance, volleyball, or marbles, as long as parents are spending time with there kids and show them that they love them I think it will work out. Or we can take the advice of a banker with a bad experience from travel ball.     :o

Cipher,

I agree that some parents are too hard on their DD's and can make them dread the activity. The activity can be anything softball, volleyball, cheerleading, school studies, band etc.

So it is not necessaryly the pressure but what kind of pressure and how it is apllied. Everyone needs to learn how to handle pressure. We can't wait until their 14 or 15 to teach them, they have to learn early. So they can learn to cope with it.

1st or 2nd is just a way to judge how well indivduals or learning teamwork and to share those pressures to obtain a common goal. They learn through this respondibilities and how to handle those respondibilities. Pressure is good when applied through a concept of reaching goals whether it is individual or team goals, and you have to be able to measure their success.

So do you fill we should wait until their 14 or 15 them put pressure and respondibilities on them. That is probably to late.

Holy moly...I would hate 2 b cipher right about now. Anyways, before we were interupted...how did the rest of the teams look this weekend? I know a lot of people were glad and some mad that tps showed up. If u win a tournament where the top teams are missing than its not a true win. Good turn out. Right now tps has a big target on their back. All hating aside...they r the #1 team in texas. With a few changes on some teams game plan that could change. Maybe the breakup of kaos is a good thing. If those girls get picked up on other teams that might change everything. We will see in the next couple of tournament.

I will stay away from all of the politically correct banter that just took place. 8-)
TPS looked pretty strong this weekend. Sting had a long road back after loosing to them early in an epic game. Stros looked good hitting. They have some strong girls. Panthers and Crush did not fair too well. Edge, Phantoms, and Ballistix played very well in some stiff competition. Rage did not hit well but still played well.

There are alot of class acts in this area. TPS,Sting, Stros, Rage are fun to hang out with. They all play the game hard and respect each other on and off the field.

Just now catching up on HB....thanks for the good laugh Cipher....I think you should take your own advice buddy. Hammer....way to school the psych major/ bank teller or wannabe that is. I haven't laughed this hard in a while. Oh well, we can all sit back and laugh at his outburst.

As for this weekend.....Congratulations to TPS on their win. Sting played a good game and I believe all the girls did their jobs out there....too bad the umpires made that a little hard. Maybe it was just me....but they were making some awful calls.

I am impressed with the teams this last weekend on and off the field. The coaches and players from the teams this weekend really respect each other. They play hard against each other and truly show respect to each other off the field. I was even impressed with the parents from these teams, they to have a respect for the opposing teams players. That says allot for the coaches of these teams, they are teaching and portraying professional attitude. Which spills over to each kid on the team (and parents ). I would like to throw a shout out to all the coaches at the Stro's tournament GREAT JOB & KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !! :D
