Been following this story for some time now, what a men(coaches/and or parents) made tragedy..
Back in the day Sweet97 was it, well hell they had the world by the balls(no pun intended).
I really wasnt close enough to hear what went wrong with the SWEET97 girls but I do know this, they had it goin on for awhile, and yes RG I will give you credit, you were a part of an awesome team that could have swept some ASS, and you felt it just like we did , even from way out in Dallas, I felt it......I guess back then you thought of this "breaking off" new organizational move, well it was or sounded good..Again, I dont blame you for that, if the pasture is greener on the other side, then chow down my friend....
I guess what amazes me is these girls, I mean back with the Sweet97 team and then this other team..I will never ever figure out why you and coach TH did not worlk these side issues out and keep the Sweet97 spirit going...for the girls...for the love of the girls...For the love of the GAME my friend..Head coach, asst coach, side coach,..what does it matter, your all DADs and wanting to win..but your Dads to some amazing talent and why don't people value this part of their lives,.I will to this day always wonder that, we are all lucky to have an amazing child, and one that learns a game and that can cherish it for their lifetime..
To this day, yes I know there were or must have been differences but damn you two guys, yes you RG/TH had an awesome line up, and a name that kicked ass...lets forget money issues, lets forget the drama of the parents, lets talk girls..young girls that love the game and love to socialize and love LIFE and softball...You two guys had an amazing team and I did keep up with it, it was, well...Like a force, you guys , both of you had a set of winners, a TEAM that would have kicked ass and taken names , (and they are all still winners do not hear me wrong)...but you guys, why did not you make this thing work way back then for the girls, you silly fools..
I am a college educated person, but I will always wonder why this original team of the SWEET97 girls ever parted..Why did not you take this seriously and think of the girls..Let them vote on your Democracy, let them have a chance to stay united,...
And parents, well your next on my list...Why did not you stay loyal to your daughter and team and make the best of it? You parents who have moved your child around and around, searching for this and that, and learned in the end, its all the same...A GAME
Its a game, its for the children and when you entered in, you unknowingly sometimes mess things up, for they are girls, they are our children..
RG/TH, I have respect for both of you, you spend time and love your daughters, and you guys devote time for a GREAT cause, after all its our kids, and thats what I love too..I just want to say thanks for investing the time and money, both of you guys mean well..we never doubted any of that friends..
I guess in the end, when its all over, win or lose, maybe the girls will learn from all of our mistakes and still love the game, and forget US adults who made it hard for them, with all the drama..
I am not so smart when it comes to select teams but I am smart when it comes to my daughter, and your daughters..All they ever wanted was appreciation and affection, they wanted to unite with a team and win, just like we do as adults..
My advice as an outsider, with girls this age,..
Have fun first and foremost, thats what the girls will remember long after were all gone, they have the young brains and will remember this year, this day..
Build a core team, (since this is select softball-rem this is SELECT), keep the best player in her position regaurdless of parents, but keep a core TEAM, a lasting memory for the girls..Expand the knowledge of your core team, keep them in there best position and make them winners..this is select remember that...dont make promises if you pick up a player that when she is not playing her selected spot she takes over another ones spot..If she is a pitcher, then she is the pitcher, if she plays 3rd then keep her at 3rd...Rotating this thing makes parents leave your team, have you not figured this out yet? If she is outfield and good, keep her and let the parents know this up front, she is an outfielder on this WINNING TEAM...every position makes the team at this age, dont compromise and make stupid promises to parents...If they are a pitcher then thats it, if they sit the bench, thats the way it is when they arent pitching..BUILD YOUR CORE and promise nothing..and in the end, you will win and the girls will move on to bigger and better things....and if parents dont like it, dont take the girls on, these girls are at an age where WINNING does matter as do their CORE...This is SELECT SOFTBALL, HELLO..
I appreciate the coaches but guys/gals coaches lets get over this trivial stuff...were about to get into High School, and there my friend, is the best player makes it...
IF you wanna rotate go join the other seasonal stuff...so parents, this is SELECT, and coaches get some backbone and designate these positions to the best player and make a core team..
Do you not see if you do this you will sweep the rest and in the end, the girls, young women will respect this?
These constant changes with players and teams are useless, you might as well be playing for the parents..Get some balls and lay down the rules and stick with it...
Damn, I should have coached more...well select teams that is..
nite
