For starters my DD does not pitch nor catch, but throughout this board all people talk about is who is the best, for one, you can be an awesome pitcher and have a crappy team, or an awesome offensive and defensive team with crappy pitching and catching. If it doesn't all come together then whats the point. TPS is a GREAT team that HAS IT ALL. But don't discredit some of the other teams out there. I have said this before, its anybodys weekend. I have seen 99 teams beat the 98 GOOD teams. Its all on who shows up and what team is ready to play. Lets not forget that these girls that everyone is ready to pounce on are 10 and 11 year olds that want to win but also want to have fun, and I think that is what a lot of people forget. Everyone of those girls out there work HARD, miss many birthdays and spending with school friends on the weekend because they are playing ball... why...?? because they enjoy it and want to win and have fun, Not to be judged because the team they play on is having a bad weekend. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS!!!!

Bighitter, I think you stated it very well. It is not just pitching and catching that win you championships. It is an all around team effort. When I say "team" I mean Players - Coaches - Parents - Fund raisers - Brothers - Sisters on and on.

Great pitchers will tell you with out a team behind them they may as well stay at home.

So if you want a good team become a good team member instead of a grump, or a critic, or a bitcher. Be a positive influence not a negitive.

Have fun and watch the girls have fun and watch them began to play better because they began to feel a part of a good team.

Hmmmmm, I guess I am confused on this one. First, I thought Joe has it right when he asked what team your DD played for because that would make it so much easier for everyone to vote for your DD. Now, you talk about these precious little girls being only 10 or 11 and they just want to go out and have fun and play the game and not worry about being judged. I thought that was the whole purpose of your original post. I know it is late so maybe I missed something in the translation. As someone with a considerable amount of softball experience and a parent of a child that is the best in the country, I can tell you without equivocation, there is no guarantee that whoever is the best pitcher at 10 or 11 will continue to grow and progress and be the best pitcher at 17 or 18 or 19. Hell, even the best at say 13.

Joe asked for my daughters name, not team. And I would never do that to her or the team for that matter, And I stated that the girls don't like to be judged... and you know what? They don't. They are their hardest critics. Do you people not think that these girls don't read the trash some people put on here? Because they do... I'm sure of it. Its great to be proud and they have many teams out there that should be very proud and its great to come on here and brag about it because as parents and coaches thats what we do. But all I'm saying is watch how you say some things about other girls.

Let's start with not posting this one, "WHO ARE THEY, WHAT TEAM, AND WHY?"

Here we go again. All of the adults on this adult dominated/oriented board need to be concerned about how a 10 or 12 year old child might react to what they post. Sorry. In the context of this board I assume I am discussing things with adults and post accordingly. If some parent allows their child to come in here, then the responsibility for the results is sure as Hell not mine. I'm sure of it.

The girls don't like to be judged? Like the way they have been judged since they were in kindergarden? Like the way they will be judged if/when, as adults, they brag about their kid's great softball exploits to the supremely uninterested? ("Because thats what we do")
