ITB Stats Question

What's on your mind?

The player that is given second base to start the inning of ITB; if the run is scored and earned is the pitcher charged the earned run? If she is not charged the earned run, who is?

Thats not the rule.. the rule is the batter scheduled to bat last in the half inning.. not the last batter in the previous inning. All sub rules apply as well.

Scoring.. have no clue.. that is truly an art form when done correctly.

I thought it was the person that made the last out in the half inning.

Thats why I was correcting this common mistake. It not the last out. Its not the last retired batter...

It is the batter scheduled to bat last.

The difference is significant, because you can sub this person. So you can put Ms. SpeedyMcEligibleSub on 2B, replacing "B9", to start off.

Very important difference strategically.

5-11
A. Starting with the top of the eighth inning, and each half inning thereafter, the
offensive team shall begin its turn at bat with the player who is scheduled
to bat last in that respective half inning being placed on second base (e.g.,
if the number five batter is the lead off batter, the number four batter in the
batting order will be placed on second base. A substitute may be inserted
for the runner).

I guess that means "TEAM" would be assigned the stat loss if the game winning score was the girl on second?
