Looks like the Austin Storm just heard the final bugle call, and the Texas Blaze have to be absolutely quaking in their cleats. I would cash checks soon gentlemen.

NEW ON VTD:
Platinum Softball is a new organization in Austin, Texas which will focus on positive player development on and off the field. This year the organization will have 3 teams, 12U, 14U and 16U, all of which will be managed by women who have played softball at a high collegiate level. Also included in the organization is a personal trainer who will teach the young women how to care for and train their bodies to reach peak performance on the field.

Platinum is looking for Parents and their daughters who WILL commit and dedicate themselves to the organization fully, doing what is asked of them and their daughter to get the player, team and organization to flourish and grow with skill. This includes practice, traveling outside of Texas, attending conditioning practices as well as regular practices, and outside practice time, also attending all team functions. This experience is going to be one of the best all around! But we need everyone on board committed to giving the same experience to get each young athlete to their goals.

Tryout will be held at Bartholomew Park at Delwood Field off 51st street and Berkman Drive. The address is 5204 Berkman Drive, Austin, Texas 78723. Tryout dates are as follows: (Please arrive 20-30 minutes early to register)

14U - Saturday August 15 - 10:00am -1:00pm
12U - Saturday August 15 - 4:00pm-7:00pm
16U - Sunday August 16 - 4:00pm-7:00pm

Really???? Good Luck to the "Texas Stars" Unless they're playing........come on. Give them some room to grow. Before throwing them on here. Storm, Stix, and Blaze will be fine. It's the smaller teams that will have to worry. If Storm, Stix, or Blaze offer a Gold spot to a 16u kid......think they'll stay down to play with them? One or two people don't make a program.......the kids do, and quality support. Give them time to grow...........don't set them up to be bashed.

Bashed . . .? I'm absolutely serious. If I had a 12u or 14u DD, this is where I would put them. This the dream team of former college coaches.

Centex needs many quality programs. Bombers, Stix, Blaze, Storm, and Platinum should consistently place teams at ASA A and in top college softball programs. A million people and high school softball teams that end up in the top of the state rankings should be a good recruiting ground for softball talent. Go platinum. One day, we want teams travelling to central Texas to play our teams rather than having to go to Dallas and Houston. There are many available players -- last time I looked few high school players were with true travel ball teams.

Wow!! This sounds amazing? what prompted them to come together to do this does anyone know? Kudos to these women, their young teams will learn a ton from them!

One thing that I find amusing, what is so funny is that SOME people criticize these role models for banding together to coach. Funny, YplayA, did you never have role models growing up?? So what you're getting at is ppl like Cat Osterman, Natasha Watley, Lisa Fernandez couldn't COACH a great group of girls BECAUSE they are names???

I will be bringing my DD to tryout for them. Hopefully she can make it and at least if these coaches have EGO'S they have proved they know the game and can play at the highest level unlike all the daddy coaches out there in this sport. I wish them well even if my kid is not part of the organization.

This probably does not answer your question, but I saw this on VTD. I hope they have a huge turn out. I have no ties to this organization (My DD plays for the Stix), but I would really like them to do well.

Platinum is having makeups tryout's for 16U, 14U and 12U on WEDNESDAY night 7-8. We have a great turn out this weekend, but want to give fair chances to everyone who was unable to make this weekends tryout.
