Hi,

I am the coach of 12U D-Bat (Allen). I have enjoyed reading the posts, and look forward to seeing you guys out on the field in the coming years. We signed up for two "B" tournaments this fall, because they are in our backyard with plenty of teams in them. Being our first year in 12U I do not see any problem with filling my fall schedule as I have seen fit, including playing where it is convenient for my team and parents. We also have to take into consideration our girls new schedules, as about half my team just entered middle school, while the other half of my team is still in elementary school.

At the completion of our fall schedule it is my plan to register us as an "A" team for all future play. I am not sure why Hey Bucket patrons have found it talk worthy to single out my team for bashing, but I appreciate the attention. Most of the teams who we have played in the past, I believe, would attest to what kind of team we have been on and off the field. I look forward to our schedule over the coming year where we are building our team to be the best we can be, and we can only do what we think is best for our young ladies. But, I appreciate your input.

Hey softballfan, nothing wrong with a couple of B tourneys. Just get them to A as fast as you can. Experience (at A) is worth it's weight in gold. It might be little bit painful (at first)but they will get there. Good luck.

The coaches are paid with the $900 per season. You still have Tournament fees. Plus they get new uniforms after every season; guess who is paying for that too? Need equipment? You can rent it from D-Money by the season. Be sure YOU get all the facts so you don't have to take out a second mortgage on your home. I spoke with one Dad that said they had to pay a $50.00 tryout fee that was none refundable. Read everything before you sign the player contract. I would draw up my on Coaches Contract and have them sign it before you signed the player contact.

In speaking with Cali coaches at ASA Nationals while taking shots of Crown, their coaches charge $500 FOR THE TRYOUT - NON-REFUNDABLE! My response was that if a player didn't make the team and you didn't refund the money, Texas being a free gun tote state, your vehicle would be riddled with bullets! There response was that it eliminated B&C players from waisting the coaches time and ensured they had committed parents/players on the team

Let D-Bat be D-Bat and if he's selling the right the right product, parents will buy-in.

...what I've learned along the way...if you are providing the instruction, confidence building, and development a player requires and a parent deems your efforts of value... they will drive over 100 miles for every practice and tournament, play hookie from work and school, drop every dime the coach doesn't ask for! The flip side, if what the coach is selling is not of value to the parent for their daughter, you will get a walmart sack with a uniform and an email to be released from the team sooner or later.

Greatness is not given overnight but over a periof of time and D-Bat/Mark deserve the opportunity to earn it over time.

by the way, in socal at least, ALL rec players are classified as B's and C's, and ALL travel teams, regardless of actual talent are classsifed as A.

Same in Houston, at least as far as ASA is concerned. nTX is a little odd in that respect, I have yet to figure their reasoning for allowing B and C travel teams.

We in N. Tx are a little off from what others do I agree. It doesn't really matter though, cause once you get to 16u if your not playing A you might as well try and play with dads beer league. Cause even waiting till 16u is real late to try.

D-Bat Chambers finished 2nd in Grand Prairie's 16u tourney last weekend. Not a real strong tournament, but for a team that sounded like it was having trouble filling it's roster, I would say that's a respectable start.
