TD's aren't going to outlaw them or ban them...but better believe if it keeps getting out of hand
"Tournament Director has the right to refuse any team from participating in Tournament"...

Sounds to me like both sides have valid points. As parents we should make the coaches aware of the content of some of the songs the girls choose to play. The coaches should be responsible enough that if they are going to allow the girls to play the music, that it should be appropriate. As for the music being a distraction, well that is what life and sports is all about. These girls are going to have distractions all of thier lives. They have to learn to focus on what is important at the time. The boom boxes are no more distracting than angry parents or a crying baby in the stands. My daughters team does not use any music, but I personnally do not have a problem with them being used as long as the music being played is publicly appropriate.

Have not seen boomboxes used to this extreme in 12u, 14u, 16u or 18u in Indiana. But I have seen boomboxes used discreetly, and not in a way to disturb neighboring games. DD's 12u team (that would be four or so years ago) turned on a boom box during warmups as we were the first scheduled game of the day and the girls needed a little pumping up. In 18u, have seen teams turn on a boombox during pre-game warmups, but at an acceptable volume.

I don't mind if a team listens to music during a tournament if it's at an acceptable volume, but I wouldn't be upset to see a ban if it stops what borders on abuse.

I have no doubt you havent seen this kind of stuff, you dont have the trash up there that we do here.

I'll give credit to the coaches that only play the appropriate part of the inappropriate songs...

You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down
(Kesha)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down

(Flo Rida)
Hey
Hopped out of that house with my swagger
Hop in that with girl, I got places to go!
People to see, time is precious
I look at my Cartier, out of control
Just like my mind where I’m going
No women, no shorties, no nothin but clothes
No stoppin now, my Pirelli’s on role
I like my jewelry, that’s always on gold
I know the storm is comin
My pockets keep tellin me it’s gonna shower
Call up my homies that’s home
Then pop in the night cuz it’s meant to be ours
We keep a fade away shot cuz we ballin
It’s platinum patron that be ours
Lil mama, I owe you just like the flowers
Girl you to drink with all that and power clubs

(Flo Rida)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down
(Kesha)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down

(Flo Rida)
From the top of the pole I watch her go down
She got me throwin my money around
Ain’t nothin more beautiful to be found
It’s goin down down.
From the top of the pole I watch her go down
She got me throwin my money around
Ain’t nothin more beautiful to be found
It’s goin down down

Hey
Shawty must know I’m not playin
My money love her like a numba one fan
Don’t look at my mouth, let her talk to my fans
My Benjamin Franklins
A couple of grands, I got rubber bands
My paper planes makin a dance
Get dirty all night, that’s part of my thing
Keep building castles that’s made out of sand
She’s amazing, the fire blazing
Hotter than cajun
Girl won’t you move a lil closer?
Time to get paid, it’s maximum wage
That body belong on a poster
I’m in a daze, that bottom is wavin’ at me
Like damn it I know you
You wanna show like a gun out of holster
Tell me whatever and I’ll be your roper…

(Flo Rida)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down
(Kesha)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down

(Flo Rida)
From the top of the pole I watch her go down
She got me throwin my money around
Ain’t nothin more beautiful to be found
It’s goin down down
From the top of the pole I watch her go down
She got me throwin my money around
Ain’t nothin more beautiful to be found
It’s goin down down

(Flo Rida)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down
(Kesha)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down

(Flo Rida)
I’m spendin my money
I’m out of control
Somebody help me
She’s takin my bank roll.
But I’m king of the club
And I’m wearin the crown
Poppin these bottles
Touchin these models
Watchin they asses go down down

(Flo Rida)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down
(Kesha)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down
(Flo Rida)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down
(Kesha)
You spin my head right round, right round
When you go down, when you go down down

There's this new gizmo I've heard of. It's got a funny name..........ipod???

How cool, now everyone can listen to WHATEVER they want and no one else needs to hear the GARBAGE. Sounds like freedom to me.

BAN DA BOX. We'll work on the ignorance that comes with them later. One step at a time.
Read the destructions first.

Makes you wonder if the parents sit around at practice and shake those cowbells to condition the girls..

I wish it were only two teams! That "Miiiiineee" nonsense seems to catch on by every little young B team out there. Just wish they'd keep in in the younger groups.

As for the bells and shakers-I see it at high schools all the time :x

Most of the time, the girls like music. I agree that it gets way toooo loud and some songs are very inappropriate, whether the songs are popular or not. What I find funny is when you hear all the chants on the field and in the dugout--the "mine" chant gets under my skin, but then I laugh because it reminds me of Finding Nemo's pelicans. My daughter is 9 and we are teaching to block everything out and focus on pitching, whether other teams are chanting "ball" or "hey pitcher" or playing music. You will always have other forms of noise, whether boomboxes, gadgets, parents, or noisemakers. It's part of all sports--soon they will be banning fans for being to loud.
