And definately NO parents...

Especially at the 10 and 12 level.

As of right now I do not coach i'm just a parent in the stands but I have coached and I have read the rules. So you can't say NO PARENT.

Blue does make mistakes we have all seen it. On every close play at home one side says good call the other side says he screwed up. Blue needs to have a thick skin its part of the Job.

I agree with you 100%, the umpires are too quick to get bothered when the crowd gives them a little heat!! There are also the (Trixsters) out there that will stick it to them any chance they get if they are getting a hard time...
It's my opinion....and that's all that matters!!

Fortunately for you, there are those of us who will do neither of these two things. We'll just turn around and get rid of you. No need to argue with any fan. Nor will I ask a coach in a youth game to be responsible for the "adults" who happen to be sitting in their stands.

If by "part of the game" you mean an umpire is out there to be abused, you are sadly mistaken. At the youth level, I am neither required nor compelled to allow any fan, coach, or player for that matter to abuse my partner(s) or me. Warnings usually make it worse when dealing with the type of person that would get ejected from a youth game or removed from the stands. I get rid of them and move on. But, that's just me.

I don't work much youth ball anymore (mainly because of people like you), so you're probably safe to continue embarrassing yourself and those around you, including your daughter.

Why are you disappointed? This is to be expected. Why would an official who's worked hard enough to be considered one of the "best" take abuse from people who, for the most part, have no clue as to what he/she does or how he/she does it. In general, the more skilled/experienced the umpire, the less tolerance they will have for silliness.

ABUSED??? Are you kidding me?? Now I am not defending the idiot parents that have never played ball or are just there to say things without knowing, but many of the parents out there know a thing or two! Umps just need toget off their high horse once in a while...all that is asked is to call a good game...we know not everyone will be 100% happy with you, but if you call a good game you won't get the heat you might get if you look like you learned how to be an umpire through "Umpiring for Dummies!"

Just wanted to clear up something with the people who think I am posting on this subject. I have not posted on this site because every concern I have with the umpires has already been discussed. But since I am on here, I will go ahead and put my opionion out there. I have been either playing, umping, or coaching this sport for all but 6 of my 42 years so I do think I can speak on this subject. I feel that the consistentcy of most of the umpires need to be addressed and quickly. We as coaches try to tell our girls to pitch what the umpires want but when they change their zones every inning, it makes our job as coaches and the poor pitchers very frustrated. I will admit that I can be very vocal where the umps are concerned but when the field umpire is texting between pitches in a championship game, I do and always will get upset. These girls work too hard for that. When I go to work I work and I expect nothing less from the umpires we are paying. I know this is a subject that has been beat to death but who took out the if game? I dont know who thought that up or who thought that at the end of a double elimination tournament both teams have 1 loss, you have a champion. Sorry, but you dont have a champion. I know everyone thinks its better for the parents or tournament director but I think thats a bunch of crap!! We give everyone in the tournament the luxury of double elimination and we dont give the champions?? It aint right folks! OK I'm done venting but you can always know that if I post on here, I will always leave my name!! (Ps I didnt spell check so feel free to tear me up!!)

Hey start your own thread little lady about the "no if game"
I do agree with you about the strike zone and just overall comments. I think the umpires are changing their strike zone because (like trix said) they are sticking it to a team.

On the subject of the if game, that's a hard one because many times there isn't enough time. Many times the td or umps don't want to stay another game... But I do think it is crazy to name a team champ when they end of with the same record as the team they just beat! Look at the olympics...the USA team went undefeated all the way and then on the "championship" game they lost to Japan and took the silver...now that sucks!!
It's my opinion....and that's all that matters!!

Nope. Look, you go screaming at your waitress at a restuarant, your teller at the bank, etc.. and you will be removed at best. Say some of the things I've heard in the stands to a grown man on the street and it may get ugly. Driving your DD to the ballpark doesn't give you the right to be an a$$. You should know what's appropriate and what isn't.

"We just want you to get the call right." "We just want it called both ways." There are many ways to say it, but it seldomn holds true.

So you're ok with total strangers showing up to tell you how bad a job you're doing? Where do you work?

What does that have to do with umpires' skin thickness?

I am so glad you are no longer on the younger divisions umpiring...if you are umpiring at all anymore...we don't need your sensitivity and weakness at a ballfield where 18 girls are fighting it out to come out on top and you getting teary eyed probably changing your strike zone every inning because someone yelled...

I can agree with you, but there are lots of umpires that do not know the rules.

They knew the rules 20, 15, or 5 years ago when they starting umpiring , but have not picked up a NEW rule book since. These are the worst umpires because they think they know the rules, and don't..

My opinion, umpires should never interact with anything that comes from outside the fence. Period....Coaches should police the parents.
