What's up with Team Mizuno?

by Team Mizuno » Tue Nov 10, 2009 12:23 pm

Team Mizuno Fastpitch tryouts will be the weekend of November 21 and 22. Exact location and times for the different age groups will be posted on VTD as well as Heybucket later this week.

Team Mizuno will be forming teams in the following age groups 10U, 12U and 14U. We are looking to form National level teams, as well as B level teams.

We are a new organization, and not associated with any of the teams listed on this post.

We have a signed contract with Mizuno to form these teams and our National level teams are required to compete at the highest level.

Due to our Coaching Staff's past/current record, they have proven themselves to be able to form these teams under the Mizuno name.

What does that mean? You are going to try and qualify for A Nationals? Will your teams be playing up a level to prepare?

Who are these coaches and what have they done to prove themselves?

Please define proven coaches, because as far as I am concerned there aren't to many proven coaches around here. I would think that someone would have to go to California to truely find a proven coach.

I am not saying that there aren't coaches that can't coach, just not to many coaches in the DFW area that have proven to be able to compete with the best of the best on a consistant basis nationally. Sure organizations like Glory, Fusion, Texas Elite, etc. have generated a history and good organizational softball locally in which there girls get recruited at the national level.

I would assume that is exactly what this new Team Mizuno organization is trying accomplish as well. Good coaches normally will generate good results or or prove themselves in the long run, just like you King Adkins. I understand that they might take away from your talent pool a little bit, but isn't that where good/proven coaching might come into play?

So the existing Team Mizuno Gold is a fraud? Or do they have a contract too?

If you have a signed "contract, it's to do what? If Mizuno has signed a contract, my guess is you are friends with the local rep. For a good example, go look up the Mizuno Chaos out of Midland/Odessa. Been around for years, and a solid program for the area, but not exactly a "national caliber" anything.

If my guess is right, coaching high school softball does not qualify you to accomplish anything at the travel ball level, but you and your parents will find that out the hard way.

"TXfastpitchsoftball" why does it work you up so much to see someone trying to bring something fresh to the area? Have you not seen some of the posts on this subject "IT'S TIME FOR SOMTHING NEW" the Team Mizuno Org> is trying to bring something fresh. Texas fastpitch is watered down. That's why Texas can not form a team to compete at the national level is because of haters like "TXfastpitchsoftball". I think what Team Mizuno is trying to do is let parents in the state of Texas that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Folks, the name of the game is not winning the plastic trophy, it's getting your daughters exposed to schools that they can adapt to. Who cares if you go D-1? What about if your daughters can't adapt? You know folks I have learned that north texas folks like to brag. You know what I mean? Like when your daughter finally makes the big team, but sits the bench???? It's a big misconseption to make the big club allow them to play where they can compete at a high level and be happy. For those of you that are just diying to know what the Team Mizuno is going to offer stop wondering and go to the tryout, cause you are probably on a team where your daughter is getting no playing time or you would not be curious.....

After I stopped laughing, I worked through this rambling.

1. North Texas Softball is watered down . . . so we need yet another travel team coached by coaches who "think" they know what it takes but have never really done anything.

2. North Texas can't field a national champion team because of "haters" who question why we need another team coached by mysterious coaches who apparently are afraid to reveal who they are because then no one would come to their tryouts.

3. Team Mizuno isn't really about building a national champion caliber team because they are really about putting together players who just want to play softball at a school where they can be happy and start (while a noble purpose, it will not lead to a national champion.)

4. Team Mizuno expects players who are not happy because they are not currently starting to come to their tryouts, therefore, creating yet another "watered down" faux college showcase team.

Should be fun to watch this disaster in the making.

The free market will work; players will find what they are looking for and stick, or they will leave and the teams will die. There was an uproar when Fusion got started a few years ago (about 2004, I think?) to compete with Elite and Glory. They've done ok. Sha-bang, 95 Travelers, and several Glory, Texas Rage, and Elite teams were pretty good at one time or another and are no more. It will either work or it won't. I have no problem with someone trying to start a solid organization.
So what if it's a degree from Bugtussle State College...she's playing D1 ball!

"TXfastpitchsoftball" you did not answer the question! Why do you get so worked up to see new programs? Why do you badger folks like Trevino? You don't even know nothing about the guy. What I have seen is this coach gets his girls to play at the next level. He works with them and they turn out to be great ball players.
