The Next Level, Coach Accused of Sex with Minor - Update

What's on your mind?

by RebelProud » Fri Apr 18, 2008 7:14 pm

I find the rush to judgement attitude regarding the TNL coach more than a bit disturbing.

My daughter played for TNL from 14U through 18 Gold, and is currently a junior in a top D1 program. She has enjoyed a good level of success, being named All-Conference, both athletically and academically.

She credits her positive relationship with the TNL head coach, other coaches and teammates for a good deal of her success. I have spent many days traveling all over the US with this person, including him as an invited guest in my home on many ocassions, I find the accusations he is facing totally out of character.

The fact that over 70 TNL families have continued to support him and the TNL program speaks for itself. No one but a child's own parents have the right or responsibility to decide what coach and program their child will play for. I suggest that the adults need to sit back and let the facts and the process sort themselves out. In the meantime, remember that whether at the elite club or recreational level, this is supposed to be about the kids. I respect other parent's decision for their own children, as they should respect our own decision for our children.

My DD plays for TNL.
I AM A GREAT PARENT!!!!!!!
Chris is an AWESOME coach
He has NEVER given me ANY reason to think he's a creep
He has NEVER done ANYTHING to ANY girl on our team
Think people --------why would 80 girls still be on TNL???????
Do you think ALL of us are brain washed????? GIVE ME A BREAK

If I could choose I would have him coach us RIGHT NOW

The judge even gave him freedom to coach RIGHT NOW

HOPEFULLY HE WILL BE BACK WITH US SOON!!!!!!!
WE ARE TNL!!!!!!!!!

Am I the only one who finds the irony in a middle-aged man with a naked Homer Simpson as his avatar who is a regular poster on a website for teenage girl's softball calling out a suspected pedophile.

Wow.

As it stands right now, he has been charged and a Judge has examined a declaration for arrest and decided there is enough probable cause that a felony was committed to deprive him of his liberty pending a trial. He bailed out, but that is not relevant to the fact the legal system would jail him pending trial. So if the legal system believes he should be jailed, that should be enough to simply keep him away from tournaments for the time being. TD's certainly have this ability.

Dont hang your hats on the May 7 prelim. I'd almost bet, unless there was potential for gain (such as the witness backing out) that the defense waives prelim at the last moment and it goes to the trial setting phase where it would be continued ad nauseum while legal poker is played, investigators are hired, etc. If the case is even somewhat strong, it is unlikely the defense will fight holding this defendant to answer in unlimited jurisdiction. There is little to gain by doing so.

Overall, its pretty pathetic for him to be flaunting himself, when he could simply lay low. He may in fact represent a danger. Certainly a peace officers, DA investigators, a judge and the state believe he does.

As usually, your post is a rambling mess of pretentious, uninformed nonsense. The court easily could have imposed as a condition of bail a restriction that he not interact with young people if the judge seriously thought he posed a "danger" to anyone. Since the court chose not to do so, I would surmise that the most informed person in this process decided it was perfectly acceptable for this guy to attend this tournament. Where do you get this stuff . . . please crawl back into the hole that is eteamz.

As usually, you are an idiot. That is not the way a criminal CLETS order works. Please stick to what you know, which is how to write a check for your DD to play ball and how to eat a hot dog. I happen to deal with this stuff and defendants every day of my life.

I love the kool-aid line. How original – never heard that one before. I am sickened by this mob-mentality. The “Quick honey - grab the gun and lock up the kids!” attitude. How about if instead of jumping to hysterical conclusions we allow Chris the opportunity to defend himself. Remember – there are TWO sides to every story, have you even trid to find out his side? How about if those of you who no nothing about Chris or TNL stop and talk to those of us who do? Rather than bashing Chris and us, why not find out more info first.

Let’s have a little bit of a reality check here, your daughters are on a field w/multiple other teammates, several adult coaches, adult umpires and with parents sitting in the stands watching. Do you really think your daughter is any danger whatsoever? Chris is sitting in the stands with a group of parents and can’t sneeze without everyone watching his every move. Tell me again where the danger to your daughter lies? TNL parents are like all other travel ball parents, dedicated to our girls, working our butts off to give them opportunities and ever so protective of them. We would not jeopardize our daughters or yours. This mass-panic needs to end. Calling us names, threatening us and trying to destroy our organization – let’s all take a step back here and get a grip on reality.

Second, if you believe that everyone who has ever been brought up on charges is guilty then perhaps you should talk to Cynthia Sommers, Dale Akiki (sp??) or Stephanie Crow’s bother. Innocent people ARE arrested, tried and charged. Period. Whether they are statistically equal to those who are guilty or not is irrelevant. Chris has every right to defend himself and be treated innocent until proven guilty. The judge did not order him to sit in a bubble waiting for his court date – he is free to live and coach while he has the opportunity to defend himself. The imitations put on him are by those who buy into the fear the media spreads. Do you really believe everything you read in the paper or see on tv? We all know the media sensationalizes and twists things around to sell papers and get us to tune in. Look at the celebrities, built up just so we can tear them down. That’s what we love to do here isn’t it, tear down people and make them suffer. Destroy one another so we can feel bigger, better, more worthwhile. Do you really believe that 17/18-year-old girls always tell the truth??? Teenager girls can be mean and vindictive – I know, I used to be one. They don’t get their way; they feel slighted or jealous and then they spread lies and gossip. Anyone who has teenager girls or has been a teenage girl can attest to the fact that girls can be malicious, vindictive and manipulative. We all have high school stories of being hurt by someone we thought was a friend but turned on us.

Lastly, Softball Jerk, you are clearly someone who has it out for us here at TNL. I find it interesting that you hide behind your anonymity while constantly pointing the spotlight at Chris, TNL parents and the board. Why hide? Since you seem to be proud of your distorted and inaccurate information about our organization – why not just come out and tell us who you are? Oh and by the way, Jerk, it’s my understanding that the court records are sealed - so if you have access to them why don’t you share??

Why don't you go ahead and educate all of us how a "criminal California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System order" works under the facts and circumstances of this statutory rape case and why this judge couldn't impose as a condition of bail an order that this coach not attend softball games, practices, etc if the judge thought him to be a danger (clearly the judge and TNL knows something you don't know). . . I'm so waiting for this explanation.

May GOD be with all of you. Unless you are apart of the TNL family, you REALLY DON'T KNOW the entire story so you are JUDGING. SHAME ON YOU. As a family, we could spill some dirty laundry about the player but WE won't because it is FAMILY business and we are dealing with it as a family. IF you aren't apart of the TNL family, really you are clueless and should just go mind your own business and make sure your back yard is clean before you start JUDGING others. MAY GOD KEEP OUR TNL FAMILY AND BRING PEACE. STRENGTH AND RESOLUTION TO ALL THOSE INVOVLED IN THIS ISSUE. WE ARE STILL TNL.
