Many teams got screwed around in San Antonio when Impact pulled out, other teams got screwed in OKC last weekend with qualified teams in the tournament, and now the last qualifier is being played where it rains all the time and there is no back up plan. It hasn't rained a drop in Houston, when all of this hit they could have moved it down the road, or at least have made plans to finish the winners bracket over there tomorrow. The forecast is for more rain tonight and tomorrow, if that happens then what?
It would be nice to see some updates to that bracket also.
It's crap like this that will make Premier take off and ASA Gold ball become "B" level ball.....if it hasn't already to a certain extent.
You may be right, but I don't think Premier has all of their ducks in a row either. They scheduled their "Texas Qualifier" during a dead period, which meant that no college coaches could come if they wanted to. And I don't know why Premier would expect teams to spend the money and time to travel to these "qualifiers" when they already have their network of friends and associates in the tournament, that didn't have to qualify.
To me that is still what makes ASA better at this point, is that the teams have to earn their right to go to the championship. I think as we have seen in Texas, they have dropped the ball by splitting the Region 7 tournament, allowing one of the head ASA officials manipulate the rules to his own advantage (in Houston and San Antonio, most of you know who and what I'm talking about) and having a qualifier in a location that is notorious for rain.
One thing that I've come to realize, and this is the part that has hit me the hardest here lately, is that with ASA and Premier, its all about the money and the power to control. They all say that they are in this for the kids, and while many kids do benefit from all of the exposure and competition, there is a completely different agenda for those that are actually in control of the situation. At least thats the way it is in Texas.
