Congrats to all of these teams! There was some exciting ball being played this weekend. And, while there was some great pitching, the games I saw were generally determined by the strength of the teams' outfields. Every team playing on Sunday hit the ball deep into the outfields. Outfield speed made the difference in a number of the games I watched.
And, while one '96 team did quite well, five of the top six teams listed above were '95s. Give the Sudden Impact their props, however, for finishing third overall (note: I changed the placing above to more accurately reflect how these teams finished).
What 96 teams are you referring to? FB Thunder is the only 96 team listed above. 96 Sudden Impact had at least 1 95 player. I think Sting Blue does also.
I guess it's up for interpretation on how you define a '96 team. While Sudden Impact had one 95 playing for them this weekend, I understand one of their middle infielders is a 98. So, on average, this team is younger than a true 96 team...
Are you serious? They had a Gold pitcher pitching for them. My interpretation is that they lose 2 and go home early without her on the mound
Their other bracket pitcher is a 96 (7th grader, I understand) who picked up with their Gold team the last two weekends. So, I guess all their wins should be discredited because they actually had two gold players on the roster! If you're 13 or 14 years old, does that really make you a gold player?
The Thunder should be commended on their performance this weekend, too. They sent a lot of good teams into the losers bracket. In my opinion, I think the pitcher for the Thunder is one of the best in all of 14U - and likely better than the two "gold" players on the Sudden Impact.
